Ala12Rv-watermanpc Posted September 20, 2018 Posted September 20, 2018 (edited) The new option for a new kind of dust fog in the ME is GREAT!!! and it was needed for a long time, however there are many issues with it I would LOVE to get solved asap. 1- It doesnt work correctly from the cockpit view as it seems to be OVER the hud and has some ugly hars edges and clipping issues that are not present in the external views: Hud issue: Odd clipping issues in the boundaries of the screen (cockpit): 2- It doesnt look the same from external and internal views: Nice, realistic and SMOOTH horizon line in external view: Harsh line visible in the cockpit at same altitude and place: 3- Extreme orange color and luminosity even for desert environements, it looks odd...it looks like there is an orange light illuminating the fog which is too extreme...a slight yellow-ish/golden tone would be more apopiate and realistic and at noon even a white color would better fit. way too much orange tone and luminosity and it looks even stronger down low: 4- Clipping issues in the far distances at high altitudes even in the external cameras...the fog doesnt reach the horizon and thus a different color "bar" appears in the horizon making the environement to look weird. 5- The dust fog doesnt change its color along the horizon according to the sun position which makes again a discrepancy/mismatch between fog color and sky/horizon color looking unrealistic with respect of the direction of the sun (this is also happening to the standar fog): Note how the fog has a too white color for being in the oposite side of the sun in the horizon: I think this is an amazing feature that makes the world look more believable so hope to see all this sorted asap and with the best quality I expect from DCS. Thanks!! Edited September 20, 2018 by watermanpc Take a look at my MODS here
jafa Posted September 20, 2018 Posted September 20, 2018 I concur with watermanpc although im seeing alot of issues externally as well . Cheers Jafa [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
Ala12Rv-watermanpc Posted September 21, 2018 Author Posted September 21, 2018 (edited) I concur with watermanpc although im seeing alot of issues externally as well . Cheers Jafa Thanks pal, yeah, I see also several issues in the external cameras...btw, found this little video showing a nice hazy noon at dubai, it shows how colors and fog would look: Note how the fog changes the color depending on if you look the sun side or the opposite...Directly under the sun there is a very light white/yellow-ish glare which is due to the sun illuminating the dusty fog in the backlight (this is already done in the natural DCS world haze but doesnt work for the ME fogs, the standar nor the dust and smoke one, where btw should be more visible) also althought is not a heavy foggy day the density and color of the "dust fog" is much lighter. Hope it helps. bye :) Edited September 21, 2018 by watermanpc Take a look at my MODS here

Ala12Rv-watermanpc Posted January 18, 2019 Author Posted January 18, 2019 None of these bugs have been yet fixed...not sure what "Fixed bug with incorrect fog covering and ground explosion effect." from the last patch means but ALL the bugs aforementioned are still there after this patch so please fix themn asap. thanks! Ala12Rv-watermanpc Posted January 6, 2020 Author Posted January 6, 2020 Please Ed! We would love to be able to enable a basic fog for dcs, fixing the EXTREME orange color of the dust storm, the extreme density of the fog, the color at diferent times of day and the way the fog interacts with the horizon are key to be usable. Thanks! Take a look at my MODS here

Thanks for your patience. Thanks for the update, BN. By next version of DCS, you mean next Open Beta or something like 2.5.6 or even 2.6 or 3.0? Just to have a time estimate in mind (weeks vs months/years), if that's possible. Thanks. The vCVW-17 is looking for Hornet and Tomcat pilots and RIOs. Join the vCVW-17 Discord. Ala12Rv-watermanpc Posted January 6, 2020 Author Posted January 6, 2020 Hi, this is reported and fixed internally, however due to merges that need to happen we wont see a public fix until the next version of DCS is released. Thanks for your patience. Thanks for the response BN! Greatly appreciated. Really good news btw, I have been waiting for a proper fog leyer/s in dcs for years now and I would absolutely love to have a nice slight, color accurate, smooth in the horizon and higher altitute fog...I think dcs visibility distance is always too good because we are missing a full fog layer/s weather control setting and implementation. Im sure it would even be great to be able to set a nice fog for performance pourposes, as it would help A LOT with fps and objetcs loading and blending in the distance. Im not sure too if you are refering to a future big new version of dcs (like dcs 3.0 or something like that) or the next patch/es but I think is a great news to know that this weather condition is getting some love :) I guess it will be part of the new weather system so I have hope you guys implement the ability to set multiple layers of fog(or visibility distance) so we can fly at high altitude yet controlling the visibility at such altitudes, thats something missing in dcs. And if a new revamped effect is being cooked then I would be extremely happy, a new, modern, more realistic representation of the world haze and fog would make the world to look sooooo much better!! . Improving how the world is "masked" by a very heavy blue fog, causing a very noticeable blue band in the horizon the higher you fly instead of a smooth, progressive and realistic fog layer that extends from the horizon would drastically make the world so much more beliebable. Cant wait to watch these improvements! Thanks! Take a look at my MODS here
Ala12Rv-watermanpc Posted February 16, 2020 Author Posted February 16, 2020 I though this was supposed to be fixed in this lates 2.5.6 patch right?..NOTHING about this has been fixed!!...since 2018!!!! Take a look at my MODS here
Goggles Posted March 7, 2020 Posted March 7, 2020 Weather and visibility was much more realistic in DCS 1.5. The fog is not right in 2.5. With maximum fog, minimum visibility set, you can see the runway lights right to the end and surrounding structures well beyond the set visibility distance. If this were true in real life, there would be no need for Instrument Landing Systems. If the visibility, whether in fog or haze or dust, is set at a given distance, say 1200 feet, then you should not be able to see anything beyond that distance... anything at all, not even runway lights. In 2.5, you can only set reduced visibility if you tick the fog selection. It should be possible to set the visibility above the fog layer. The weather in real life is never always severe clear.
