TM F/A-18C STICK

Ah well I bought it to flly the FA-18C so I don't use the paddle as a modifier.

Not quite sure what you mean by that. Nothing to do with the Hornet. Using a modifier doubles up the number of bindings available on your HOTAS.

I use the pinky lever as a modifier on all modules for all sorts of bindings, like - F views, kneeboard on/off, next/previous page, mark position, as well as seat up/down, camera in/out, etc. etc.

I simply meant that I primarily fly the FA-18C which is why I bought it (I needed a new stick anyway).

I don't use modifiers in the way you do. My memory won't cope with it! :) To do other comands I have the Warthog throttle configured for the FA-18C and a few other aircraft with custom overlays although there's a lot of commonality so I usually just remember what does what. For anything else I used to use the CH Control manager (24 buttons) with a separate legend sheet for each aircraft but that meant faffing about with legend sheets if I changed aircraft so I am now using a 10 inch Tablet (touch screen) and the LEA Extended Input App (see attached). It means building a different set of images with touch-screen commands for each a/c but it gives me touch controls instead of reaching for the mouse in the cockpit and is easy to switch aircraft by selecting a different profile. It takes some time to build them but that's ok, I like that sort of thing. So far I have only the FA-18C, Spitfire and one for IL-2 GB (its very simple like the game cockpit management is).

Sounds interesting, if not a little complicated!

You should give the modifier thing a go. Once you have set up bindings for the lever plus buttons/hats on your throttle and stick, you'll fnd it very easy.

I use the same bindings with the modifier for all aircraft, so the old memory isn't stretched too far!

Well, the preparation of the Android LEA pages requires some effort but it gives me recognisable cockpit-view touch controls (a better idea would be a touch screen monitor for the game but that's way too expensive at the moment). I've tried many things over the many years I've been using flight sims and the multi-mode joystick idea (Paddle modifier, 3-modes on X-52 etc.) is, for me, the least helpful. I prefer direct and obvious buttons or cockpit images for non-HOTAS functons hence the CH control manager or LEA. That allows me to configure the HOTAS as near to the RL aircraft as possibe and leave the aircraft panels/console switches to the CH buttons or LEA inputs. Horses for Courses I suppose. Or is that Courses for Horses? :)

A quick question for you chaps, is the brake lever a digital button or analogue axis?

A Button and its not the Brake in the FA/18

Thanks. I use that as an analogue brake with my Virpil CM. Was very much considering the F18, but that might push me towards a Constellation alpha.

I use my Wheelbrakes on my MFG Crosswind V2 and the Stick like it is in the Real FA/18.
