Revelation Posted October 4, 2018 Author Posted October 4, 2018 You can already have preloaded chaff and flare programs for 1-5 by simply adding one .lua file. Check the User Files section. True, but that changes with every update and I am not sure if it will pass integrity check or not. I simply don't know. I agree though I would love to see an option, even if it was in Skatezilla's App that allowed you to setup that stuff ahead of time. Make it OVGME compatible and it doesn't change with any of the updates, and it is IC compatible I fly on the big name servers all the time with it. Yep I was aware of that. I will start using it but I think a more comprehensive solution from within the mission editor etc would be welcome especially when you consider the overall amount of data needed for different mission types. Of course ED have a huge amount on their plate so this I regard as “would be nice to have” Cheers. Fighter Pilot Podcast.
Eldur Posted October 4, 2018 Posted October 4, 2018 The most exciting stuff for me is the MIDS / datalink stuff beamscanner mentioned, being able to see where wingmen/friendlies/targets are around you in 3D space will be incredibly useful - no one will ever need labels again once we've got that! I'll finally be able to see midair contacts in DCS then Can we setup the implementation for VR to right eye only or left eye only to adopt to personal eye-strenght/health....i can imagine having the display on both eyes will result in strange double sight... Definately a very good point there. This is an absolute must. You can already have preloaded chaff and flare programs for 1-5 by simply adding one .lua file. Check the User Files section. This definately breaks tracks. So not the best idea to go with - that's why we need this on a data cartridge.
RShackleford Posted October 5, 2018 Posted October 5, 2018 The HUD is projected in both eyes now and you don't get double-sight, even though different images are projected in each eye. Close one eye and then the other and you'll see each eye is only seeing just over half the HUD, but they blend together when both eyes are open so you don't notice. I'm hoping it'll be in both eyes - the only thing I can base my experience on is the HMS in the KA-50 which I find a bit odd to use/focus on in VR as it's on just one eye, though that might be because it's not focused at infinity like a HUD would be. I don't think any JHMCS is anything but just the right eye in all US fighters except for the F-35, which is a completely different helmet. The helmet in the F-15E is just one eye, but USAF doesn't put as much money into 4th gen as Navy does so it could be different. If the USN does have better helmets I'd wager it's only for super hornets while legacy is using the old JHMCS.
Badlego Posted October 5, 2018 Posted October 5, 2018 So is the jhmcs we get for the hornet projecting to the right eye only in reality?

The superhorent on the other hand would technically be 4.5 gen fighter ( in particular if its block 2) so its a different story.
