Greetings !

 

Thanks again for the reveal trailer guys, Question for you @Cobra847

 

With the advent of the F-14 and the already ingame ability to change livery and the tail numbers of the aircraft that can been seen by all in the multiplayer enviornment

 

Have you considered the same ingame arming screen to change the Pilot names for the side of the aircraft, and that they are dynamic and can be seen in game the same as the Tail numbers ?

 

This would be a really cool feature, probably the same principal as AC numbering.

The tail numbers can usually be changed in the Alt+' weapons loadout screen. The big two-letter tail code is squadron specific or CVW specific, however and can't be changed:

OK well you missed my entire question. I was wondering if we are going to be able to Change the pilot names below the canopy, like we can currently change the aircrsft number in game. That is my question.

THIS would be a great implementation! (not only for F-14 but for F-18 as well)

We do it in CVW-11 every person has their name, modex, noseart etc on their aircraft and the Tomcat will be no different. :)

 

 

Sure, but not every virtual pilot is also a photoshop-pro. :smilewink:

Jumpin, Your not wrong, in fact your absolutely correct.

 

However, there are free options and alternatives to photoshop and really great tutorials on livery editing and something very simple as adding a name to an existing livery is a very low learning curve.

Yeah, but still, it would be nice if ED would make some provision for this.

i386DX40@42 MHz w/i387 CP, 4 MB RAM (8*512 kB), Trident 8900C 1 MB w/16-bit RAMDAC ISA, Quantum 340 MB UDMA33, SB 16, DOS 6.22 w/QEMM + Win3.11CE, Quickshot 1btn 2axis, Numpad as hat. 2 FPH on a good day, 1 FPH avg.

 

DISCLAIMER: My posts are still absolutely useless. Just finding excuses not to learn the F-14 (HB's Swansong?).

That plus we will get a blank template, but not one that contains the stock liveries to edit them to our likings (I might be wrong, don't even have Ps so I couldn't even check one of them for other modules as of yet).

 

Add to that the fact that DCS does NOT transfer liveries in MP, unlike another sim which did that already almost 2 decades ago, and those have been uncompressed bitmaps! Literally took ages, but after a while you had all those paint jobs of your mates in your cache folder rainbowdashwink.png

 

You aren't gonna see it yourself unless you use F2 and others won't see it either. That's the point where it's absolutely great to tell ED to implement such a feature since that's something everyone would be able to see in MP even without liveries transfer, which would also be mandatory to be added IMHO.

yes agree Eldur, The point of the OP was to impliment something dynamically similar to the numbering system. You can see there are templates with bitmaps for the numbers 0,1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9 in them and you can enter any number on the side of your aircraft. This is in turn seen by anyone in the multiplayer server. No need for a similar livery.

 

I was thinking in terms of having the Letters A,B,C,.......... so you could just type in the names and they show up on the aircraft similar to the numerical system.
