PythonOne Posted June 6, 2007 Posted June 6, 2007 I'm sure some of you have heard about the Rambo 4 movie coming out so i was watching Rambo 3 just now. What is the helicopter that the Russian general was using? I don't think i ever saw that before unless it was made especially for the movie. When i was young, i thought it was the Hind, but i guess i was wrong.

Highwayman-Ed Posted June 7, 2007 Posted June 7, 2007 The site speculated that the smaller helo was an Alouette III but it is infact a Gazelle, identifiable by the Fenestron tail in this case. Kuky Posted June 7, 2007 Posted June 7, 2007 I didn't watch the Rambo movies but it that was the helicopter from the image on the bootom from the link in 2nd post... then yes, that is the Gazelle frame, of course they modified it a bit for the movie :music_whistling: Gazelle's were used in former Yugoslavian Air Forces and from my recolection the helicopter was developed in French/Yugoslavian cooperation (EDIT: Wikipeadia says it was actually developed by French only but Yugoslivia has made its own 'copy" same as they did for AK-47, Yugoslavian built copy of T-72 etc, maybe even T-80)... same as for J-22 Orao which was developed in Romanian/Yugoslavian cooperation. SuperKungFu Posted June 7, 2007 Posted June 7, 2007 rambo is awesome, you should go watch it. I can't really comment about the 4th one since i haven't seen that yet, but if you go to youtube and watch the trailer, damn he still kicks ass at age 60 or something. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
Kuky Posted June 7, 2007 Posted June 7, 2007 ah... I just can't stand the way they make movies like that.. 1 man takes on the whole army... kills everyone and not a scratch on him  I like movies like "Saving Private Ryan" or "Band of Brothers"... things like that. Heck I like TopGun too but only because it has really nice arial combat footage... doesn't matter if there's so much bullshit in it :smartass: it still looks bloody great. Too bad there not more movies like TopGun :pilotfly: PC specs: Windows 11 Home | Asus TUF Gaming B850-Plus WiFi | AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D + LC 360 AIO | MSI RTX 5090 LC 360 AIO | 55" Samsung Odyssey Gen 2 | 64GB PC5-48000 DDR5 | 1TB M2 SSD for OS | 2TB M2 SSD for DCS | NZXT C1000 Gold ATX 3.1 1000W | TM Cougar Throttle, Floor Mounted MongoosT-50 Grip on TM Cougar board, MFG Crosswind, Track IR
Brit_Radar_Dude Posted June 7, 2007 Posted June 7, 2007 There was a time long ago of great Anglo/French co-operation in aviation, and I don't only mean Concorde. Gazelle, Puma and Lynx helo's were developed by British/French and used by both countries and sold well to many others. Ditto the Jaguar - developed for both countries Air Forces. Jaguar sales to other countries were a bit more of a problem though (often it was in direct competition with 100% French Mirages). [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Sorry Death, you lose! It was Professor Plum....

It's one of those things . . . we never seem to get on despite being so closely related and neighbours for so long. But when we do work together . . . Concorde, Jaguar, Gazelle, Puma, Lynx, Airbus . . . it's awesome! Here's to the entente cordiale ;) http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v121/britgliderpilot/BS2Britgliderpilot-1.jpg
mcnab Posted June 8, 2007 Posted June 8, 2007 ah... I just can't stand the way they make movies like that.. 1 man takes on the whole army... kills everyone and not a scratch on him  So what's wrong with that? Are you saying that John Rambo was using aimbot, wallhacks or something like that?? I find the movies perfectly realistic, especially when he takes on half a police squad with a fork and a toothpick. Now that's some skill!
SuperKungFu Posted June 8, 2007 Posted June 8, 2007 lol yea and the new one....he just uses his hands. I saw the trailer, you can see the uncensored version on youtube, where he just rips people's necks off with his hands. Cmon, at that age, thats kicking ass. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
