I have a strong feeling that Oculus will come out with something much better (and pricier too) not later than Pimax begins shipping. Patient ones should definitely wait - and will be rewarded.

Pimax’s are shipping and OC5 just passed with no mention at all of a PCVR HMD. This would be a really odd turn of events.

Yeah but the point is, Pimax is also not here yet, even backers have not received anything yet and end of the year is pretty close already. How long we will have to wait until we can actually order a pimax headset and have it shipped is still unknown.

Got it. You don't want to take a chance on the company, with that much moneys involved. We all got it. I don't think you have to belabor the point.

I took a chance on KS because the specs seemed good enough. But only time will tell.

I'm in the low 300's. Received the "which model do you want" email Oct 18.

Not a word since.

Sticking with 8k, maybe see it by Christmas at this speed.

I mean, if I have product X (like a 32K HMD, for example), and if I can sell the first batch of this product at 10K$ apiece, yep, I'm gonna do it, don't care how unsociable it is. Everybody else will just have to wait until I sold all I can at 10K$. That' just capitalistic marketing.

Problem is the Pimax is a small fresh company with a high potential product but draw a risky move which could jeopardize everything including those who buy this product and stay in the end without proper support and even future like it was in the past with 4K or with OSVR. They are just dead meat even you can still buy a new one. But in essence, it is failed project's.

I already explain why I will not buy Pimax before some stuff will be clear and not before they publish a real specification of the product.

And simply with such product under this price they leave opened huge space for competitors so I'm expecting in 2019 more similar products with better specs and maybe not lower price but certainly better performance per $ ratio in price or Pimax will be forced to put it in realistic boundaries. Something which will worth to pay. Pimax prices should be at least 200$ lower to be acceptable to all, not just those who will pay anything to get it first.

Those who are willing to pay this now will have only benefit to use it earlier but the question is whit what hardware especially if we look from DCS usage perspective.

I'm waiting for picture clarity true lens comparison but under native resolution 1:1 without supersampling at all to really see which one have better hardware/software optimization.

That what Sweviver show us was under 2.0 SS in Pitool and than again true SteamVR on 300%. Those screenshots were on double SS and with such set up I doubt you can play at all or will be look like photo gallery only with maybe maximum of 40 frames but per minute not second.

It is normal. They are conquering the new market with other products. CV1 is definitely outdated not just because of the Pimax but from WMR's especially Samsung.

Simply Rift2 or call it Half Dome is not the product who can compete with Pimax, StarVR, and XTAL. Maybe only with Samsung and HTC Vive PRO.

They all need a new product, real Gen2 VR as this 3 are. But it is not that big step technologically, they just need to make a new frame, adopt software and create custom lens especially for such product and they have already better and bigger recources, technology and knowledge than the new competition. I'm expecting before the end of Q2 2019 announcement of another Grn2 VR from some of those 3 established VR company. At least from one if not all 3.

Wonder how many backers here are sticking with the 8K version?

Backers are a different story. Backers made a good deal no matter which they will get in the end.

I'm repeating, Pimax5K is a great product but not worth that money. To get the better perspective and more realistic comparison you should compare Pimax5K_BE with Vive PRO and Samsung Odyssay+ not the Pimax5K+ because Vive PRO and Samsung got AMOLED displays and only 5K_BE got OLED. It is not still AMOLED but it is more close to comparing then way cheaper LCD panels like on 5K+ and 8K.

That is why I'm warning you guys it is lot's of enigmas with this products and it is not the time to prepurchase especially under such high price.

This proves what I'm predicting. It is already making to prolong life on the market until they will have an answer to this new wide FOV VR HMD's.

You just need to be patient and not to rush and preorder first thing on the market.

You’ve tried the 5K+ in its latest iteration? Tell us about your experiences; what games did they have loaded up, hardware, etc.

You know I really didn't mean to cause this quite of a stir or debate on this thread! I was just trying to point out that their website is back up and running.

At the end of the day, your personal preference and your personal pocket book will be making your decisions based on the information you learn.

If I get PIMAX and I'm disappointed then that's on me no one else. I'm also in the position to spend the money now on something potentially better than what I have, rather than wait. Sure it might be a loss if I end up going with a different option later like StarVR, but last I checked I'm a grown ass man and can make those decisions.

I do appreciate all the inputs though.
