Braeden108 Posted November 13, 2018 Posted November 13, 2018 Hey guys, I'm curious about exporting in game events to real world LEDs. For example 3 green LEDs for landing gear. My main question is, once I get everything set up and the necessary scripts put into DCS is it plug and play from that point? My DCS setup already takes time to actually set up so I don't wanna add more time to it. :hehe: I've been using MMJOY for a while, I noticed it has the capability for this but I'm not sure how to implement it as I haven't been able to track down any guides. aniron Posted November 13, 2018 Posted November 13, 2018 DCS-BIOS is AFAIK the closest you get to plug&play.
Braeden108 Posted November 13, 2018 Author Posted November 13, 2018 Yeah that's what I was after. Though, I think to include that at this point in my build would just be feature runaway Light the tires kick the fires! [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
romeokilo Posted November 14, 2018 Posted November 14, 2018 PhidgetLED-64 Advanced https://www.phidgets.com/?tier=3&catid=99&pcid=79&prodid=1024 Not cheap.... but very easy to build and wire up leds and its basically plug and play if you don't mind running helios in the background. My caution box is run via one and it does the job. Having said that... I'd recommend DCS BIOS and an Arduino over Phidgets any day. Cost is so much cheaper. Once you get one led blinking with DCS-BIOS, you will realise how easy it is to do and will end up with a full home cockpit. That's what happened to me. I'll be rebuilding my caution box to run via DCS-BIOS in the near future. Sent from my SM-G950F using Tapatalk
Sokol1_br Posted November 14, 2018 Posted November 14, 2018 (edited) LED support in MMJoy2 firmware is only for War Thunder output data (developer preference). For DCS landing gear status an affordable alternative is DCS BIOS + Arduino. Edited November 14, 2018 by Sokol1_br
Braeden108 Posted November 15, 2018 Author Posted November 15, 2018 Hmm, well I like MMJOY and I'm basically done with design, and mechanical manufacture, so I think I'll forgo any lighting effects this time. Thanks for the info guys! Light the tires kick the fires! [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
RightStuff Posted November 15, 2018 Posted November 15, 2018 When using Helios, using the EOS Library is another (and cheaper than Phidgets) way to put light into the pit: https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=108160 But it‘s a little bit tricky and though I dropped it. If you only fly DCS, DCS Bios is IMO the cheapest and easised way to go - as already mentioned by RK.
