33-DFTC Posted November 24, 2018 Posted November 24, 2018 Hello guys ! Today I flown a mission with a member of my squadron and for some reason our comm system went down during the flight. The situation didn't allowed us to Alt+Tab to reboot the soft and I thought at that moment that a basic hand signals system would have helped us to communicate. The new Jester AI from Heatblur already demonstrated that a wheel comm' interface can be integrated into DCS. Why couldn't we adapt it to choose hand/head signals ? I know this is a long shot, but who knows ? If many of us show an interest in this idea we could end up with a nice surprise someday. There are only two types of aircraft, fighters and targets. - Major Doyle "Wahoo" Nicholson, USMC
Precog Posted November 24, 2018 Posted November 24, 2018 Good idea...would be cool in VR when hand tracking becomes the norm. Check out my 'real world' video series [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
WindyTX Posted November 26, 2018 Posted November 26, 2018 Agreed with hand signals you can do almost everything visually. Xilon_x Posted November 27, 2018 Posted November 27, 2018 if you have complete list of iternational hands comunication sitstem for military pilot post here. the hands signal use in formation flight. https://www.eapisfile.com/Docs/Formation/PPT/Advanced%20Formation%20Clinic%20Technique%20Notes.pdf
Tom Kazansky Posted November 28, 2018 Posted November 28, 2018 I support this. Nice Idea. Amd one question that may fit here: I miss to see the real head viewing direction of other players in multi player. If I sit in a two seater, I'd love to see where the other guy (in front of me) looks at. (Heat Blur's F-14 should profit in the future, too) And in close wingtip2wingtip formations it should be cool to see, where the other pilot looks, aswell. Is there a way to turn this on(/off) or isn't this implemented (yet)?
WindyTX Posted November 28, 2018 Posted November 28, 2018 Left Right works I can see when my lead looks at me just you can't see up down for a head nod for instance.
