I guess that depends on a lot of factors. I've been a pretty die hard Vive user since launch and bought the Odyssey + on kind of a whim, thinking it would be cool to have another VR setup available when friends come over so, we could fly together. Received the O+ on December 1st and haven't put on the Vive since. With the clarity tweak mentioned elsewhere on this forum, the gauges and MFDs in the cockpit are clearly readable and there is no screen door effect. Head tracking may not be as precise as the Vive and the fit might not be as comfortable, but it is good enough for the much better view. I'll keep the Vive for my guests, but the O+ is now my primary HMD.

But as they say, your mileage may vary.

Permanently switched from a rift, but, do check one out for fit first, there's not much chance for you to adjust much of anything if it doesn't fit. Already used to the feel of it on my head, took a while, for me a none issue, fits me well. I'm unable to crank any clicks to tighten it one bit, heads already too big, size 7.5", but eyes are exactly where they need to be. Pure luck.

If you are a good fit, it's a sweet upgrade, the visuals are a treat in comparison with a blurry screen door.

Head tracking may not be as precise as the Vive

Would the less precise tracking be noticeable in DCS? I assume it would in a room scale game like Onward where your moving your head a lot more but what about a sit down, cockpit experience like DCS?

If you've never used Vive or Rift, I don't know that you'll notice it too much.

If you started out with Vive (best tracking) or Rift (good tracking), then you'd notice the OK tracking on Odyssey. But IMO, it's perfectly usable for DCS.

After only 10 mins with the Odyssey+ I listed my Rift on ebay. There is that much difference between the two systems.

With the Odyssey you put your face in the headset then tighten the headband for a secure fit. The other HMDs you adjust the headset with the straps to fit your face. Different approach and seems odd to long time users but actually makes for a better fit and less outside light seeping in.

I have experienced no head tracking problems. The Odyssey is 1:1 same as Rift.

HoneyBadger,

I am in complete agreement with Hansangb assessment. I have yet to try the O+ in room scale as almost all my VR is in flight simulators.
