In my humble opinion, it's all a matter of layers : in any case, your Rift will use Oculus service to render data. If you use SteamVR another layer is added which uses Steam, then Oculus service.

Not sure it's useful...

I use home. And have been told to use home by other folks with the Rift. I use steamVR for other games and it seems to work fine too but I have to have home running AND steamVR.

Old-N-busted: i7 4720HQ ~3.5GHZ, +32GB DDR3 + Nvidia GTX980m (4GB VRAM) :joystick: TM Warthog. TrackIR, Rift CV1 (yes really).

Oculus Home...simples..it just works..no faffing. :)

Using Oculus Home is the faster way, but there is even better.

Oculus Homeless:

 

Loads bare minimum of VR UI, so if you use Rift primarily for flying - I recommend it.

The guy that made it claims that that Home2.0 closes itself when VR games are running, so no real benefit?

Why add another layer on top of the Oculus runtime?
