Bomber formations for non WWII

Why can't we do formations for more modern bombers? Can even have more than 1 in a flight.

If we can do it for the B-17 why not the others?

yeah same. Even on the TTI server I frequent, you only ever see bombers come over in 1s and 2s. I'd love to see formations of up to 12 or 24 surrounded by fighters.

They don't use bomber swarms anymore, and if they did they'd come from multiple directions and many miles apart. They quit doing that back in the 50s/60s, the US even had nuclear a2a missiles. In Vietnam, it mostly small groups of bombers, close enough to share ECM overlap, but a long.ways from 'in formation'.

 

It's dramatic, but not something you'd actually see outside of a video game. Still, it is weird they are treated as separate object class.

Tactically it's just a non starter but to have the ability to do it is fair enough. If you want to do demo formation flights etc. Perhaps?

I’ve built Vic formations and Diamond formations of B-1s and BUFFs using the “Follow” command and its associated distance/position parameters.
