Kayos Posted January 16, 2019 Posted January 16, 2019 Why can't we do formations for more modern bombers? Can even have more than 1 in a flight. If we can do it for the B-17 why not the others? [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
Tread_Head57 Posted January 17, 2019 Posted January 17, 2019 I’ve been wondering this for a very long time!
The_Pharoah Posted January 17, 2019 Posted January 17, 2019 yeah same. Even on the TTI server I frequent, you only ever see bombers come over in 1s and 2s. I'd love to see formations of up to 12 or 24 surrounded by fighters. AMD AM4 Ryzen7 3700X 3.6ghz/MSI AM4 ATX MAG X570 Tomahawk DDR4/32GB DDR4 G.Skill 3600mhz/1TB 970 Evo SSD/ASUS RTX2070 8gb Super
Void78 Posted January 17, 2019 Posted January 17, 2019 Imagine formation of modern bombers who have gotten themselves in a modern SAM's launch envelope. It would be hard to miss. That's my uneducated guess.:D
Mars Exulte Posted January 18, 2019 Posted January 18, 2019 They don't use bomber swarms anymore, and if they did they'd come from multiple directions and many miles apart. They quit doing that back in the 50s/60s, the US even had nuclear a2a missiles. In Vietnam, it mostly small groups of bombers, close enough to share ECM overlap, but a long.ways from 'in formation'. It's dramatic, but not something you'd actually see outside of a video game. Still, it is weird they are treated as separate object class. Mule Posted January 18, 2019 Posted January 18, 2019 Tactically it's just a non starter but to have the ability to do it is fair enough. If you want to do demo formation flights etc. Perhaps? Fighter Pilot Podcast.
Emmy Posted January 20, 2019 Posted January 20, 2019 I’ve built Vic formations and Diamond formations of B-1s and BUFFs using the “Follow” command and its associated distance/position parameters.
