razorseal Posted February 2, 2019 Posted February 2, 2019 Hey guys, I have a real nice set of fanatec elite pedals on my flight rig.. I do play racing sims sometimes, and I'd hate to constantly switch pedals as I have an obutto cockpit and these things are bolted down to the rig... is there a way I can setup the racing pedals to work as rudder? perhaps the clutch and the gas pedal? This is what I have...
Canadus Posted February 2, 2019 Posted February 2, 2019 The good old fanatec. Should work, if you can bind left rudder to clutch and right rudder to brake, i.e. Would / could be a bit arkward, as it may be unusual. But should work. Ryzen 5800XD - 32GB RAM - Sapphire RX 7900 XTX - VKB Stuff + MFG Crosswind Pedals Homebase: Southwest Germany
erniedaoage Posted February 2, 2019 Posted February 2, 2019 yes its possible i did it myself couple years ago with the same pedals, but i didn't enjoy it since i had a smaller travel range on my clutch and a much stiffer spring. And i had it setup like your picture so it was bit weird with the feel of the different pedals and travel range. Mule Posted February 2, 2019 Posted February 2, 2019 I use my really old momo wheel pedals. There is an option in the settings to have them as combined pedals. DCS just sees it as another device. I set it in the axis for rudder and tick the reverse box. These work in all the flight sims I use without any issues at all. Fighter Pilot Podcast.
razorseal Posted February 2, 2019 Author Posted February 2, 2019 Only thing is how do I set left and right rudder? Axis only show rudder, center being 0 and left right -50 and +50 With a pedal it will be 0 to 100, so. It will need left and right side Sent from my SM-N960U using Tapatalk
Mule Posted February 3, 2019 Posted February 3, 2019 Do you have any settings within the software that came with your pedals? If so your looking for an option to combine axis? Fighter Pilot Podcast.
DEG Posted February 4, 2019 Posted February 4, 2019 Alternate solution? Not quite what you're asking about (eg use Fanatec pedals for rudders), but... I was thinking the same thing, with my CSL Elite pedals, which are even more symmetric (gas / clutch, same spring mechanism), but they arent very 'rudder pedal like' with their 0-100 (instead of 0 +/-50 if that makes any sense), and their independent motion. I ended up getting a set of VKB pedals ($220 on Amazon now), and gluing a nut to the underside of the Fanatec mounting plate, so the rudder pedals screw on with a single (hand-tightened) hex bolt. Takes <30sec to swap them in and out. Bonus is the Fanatec pedals now serve as wheel brakes. On another note, the Fanatec brake handle makes a decent collective for helicopters: https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?p=3742039
razorseal Posted February 5, 2019 Author Posted February 5, 2019 (edited) yeah I might have to do something like that. I just didn't want to take off and on stuff...\ edit - I just looked at that rudder setup. it's different and not like the rudders i've used on real planes (cessna, king air etc). What's the purpose of that style? Edited February 5, 2019 by razorseal

Activity Posted February 10, 2019 Posted February 10, 2019 You can combine multiple device axis to control a single game axis (rudder) by setting them as a slider and limiting the saturation to 50, then add the second device axis and do the same, though you might have to check "Inverted". You might have to play around with it depending on your setup, but you can see how I set it up in the attached screenshots.
eaglecash867 Posted February 11, 2019 Posted February 11, 2019 Should work just fine for the Russian aircraft, since they don't have toe brakes. adrianstealth Posted February 11, 2019 Posted February 11, 2019 I’d love to use mine too Wish there was an option in DCS to use separate pedals Eg left pedal & right pedal Would make it so easy, my sim racing pedals are screwed to my rig
