Bigskill Posted February 6, 2019 Posted February 6, 2019 Is it just me or mig29 feels weird after latest update? Like flying wise is not too bad, but jeez take off and landing feel weeeird, landed at 250 yesterday and I was stable and as soon i touch down I got sent back to the space.... twice.... wth? Also take off sometimes act weird pitching up like crazy even without touching the trim. I was really looking forward to this but.... I feel.... uncomplete still... Is it just me?
rrohde Posted February 6, 2019 Posted February 6, 2019 Practice, practice, practice. ;) Also, 250 seems a little slow, so you might watch your sink rate as to not slam her down onto the tarmac. And, you need to trim the nose down right after take off quite a bit. Another tidbit - use the ATT Hold channel a lot - it helps. What you describe is just how the PFM (professional flight model) works, based on the real 29. Maybe you enjoyed the previous far more simplistic SFM better? BlackPixxel Posted February 6, 2019 Posted February 6, 2019 After take off and gear up, flaps up I always enter a weird state where the MiG just oscillates on pitch. It will pitch up, then it will deploy the leading edge flaps which causes it to pitch down, where it will undeploy the leading edge flaps and pitch up again. The 29 is a weird plane.

So why not trim accordingly right after take off, and/or use the ATT Hold channel as needed for stable flight? Also, what is your rotate and wheels-up speed respectively? When was the last time you flew the aircraft prior to this? Recently? Haven’t been in it myself since the last update but... The “flabber” effect occurs when either 1) your sink rate is too high or 2) you slam the nose wheel down. Landing at 250-260 isn’t an issue as long as you’re landing at that speed from less than a meter above the ground. I’ll often counter that takeoff pitch up tendency by inputting a bit of nose down trim before I roll. Another solution, assuming you like to take off in full burner, is to throttle back a bit as you retract the landing gear. Many years ago, one of the reasons I left LOMAC on the shelf was the Fulcrum unreal poor maneuverability. The actual Professional Flight Model, really gave the Fulcrum its capability as a natural dogfighter.
