Did just try this once, but at the point after the full MIL power check you are instructed to go back to idle and then put the left engine in afterburner. Did that and it wasn't recognized and I didn't get the instructions to go back to idle and do the same for the right engine.

This worked for me...Make sure the AB Emergency Disconnection switches forward and above the throttle are in the down position. Also make sure you click the AB enable button at the front right corner of the throttle quadrant. When you run up the left engine you should see the MIL and AB lights come on. That should advance the tutorial.

This is also what happened to me. Either the text / speech is incorrect or the AB cutoff switches are working the wrong way. Actually the 4 mentioned switches switches have to be in the down position to get the AB working and the MIL Power lights on.

In thrust we trust

I first switched them up "as instructed" wrongly, noticed that I didn't have burners which made me switch them down again. I had the burners, but the instructor didn't recognize it. Probably hung because I had them off on the first try.
