Eldur Posted March 30, 2019 Posted March 30, 2019 (edited) I keep getting this from the ATCs... just in the Tomcat. I always have it down and locked already when asking permission. So what gives? Edited April 13, 2019 by IronMike
CEPEGA Posted March 30, 2019 Posted March 30, 2019 I always thought it‘s just a reminder to the pilot. I see no issue here Asus Z97-PRO | Intel i7-4790K @ 4.00Ghz | beQuite! Scotch75 Posted March 30, 2019 Posted March 30, 2019 Its a precautionary instruction from ATC to all military retractable undercarriage aircraft when giving a landing clearance to make sure gear is down and locked. Its a "challenge and response" scenario. So it would go something like this: Pilot: "Viper, base three greens" ATC: "Viper, cleared to land, check wheels" Pilot: "Cleared to land, Viper" (the pilot then presses a beep back button which only activates an audible beep over the radio when all gear is down and locked - not modelled in DCS). SonofEil Posted March 30, 2019 Posted March 30, 2019 (edited) I think the "Check Gear" call has been in DCS since I started playing. IRL it's much less common to hear it in the US of A than the rest of the world. In the states you're likely only to hear it if a controller notices something amiss. Edited March 30, 2019 by SonofEil the sentence structure bothered me. restructured. i7 7700K @5.0, 1080Ti, 32GB DDR4, HMD Odyssey, TM WH, Crosswind Rudder...

It’s in all aircraft afaik. Not just the Tomcat. And it’s been around in DCS since I can remember. Eldur Posted March 30, 2019 Author Posted March 30, 2019 As far as I noticed, it is in all aircraft, but just when you forget to put it down. When driving the Tomcat, they always say that regardless.

I've had it in all aircraft, with gear down, so :dunno: Proud owner of: PointCTRL VR : Finger Trackers for VR -- Real Simulator : FSSB R3L Force Sensing Stick. -- Deltasim : Force Sensor WH Slew Upgrade -- Mach3Ti Ring : Real Flown Mach 3 SR-71 Titanium, made into an amazing ring.
