deafaviator Posted April 2, 2019 Posted April 2, 2019 (edited) Good evening gents. As I’ve mentioned recently, I’m working on a couple of missions, planning to make a full campaign intended for public release. Right now I just have two missions with probably 100 lines between the two, I’d guess. I’m deaf and the guys I fly with are deaf. I can hear sounds reasonably well but not voices. As I’d like to make these missions as high quality as possible and enjoyable by all, I want to have full voiceovers. I know I’m asking for a lot but would a couple of you be interested in helping me do the voices? I need, if I recall correctly, about 6-7 different voices, so you’d need to know how to edit your voice to simulate different persons speaking. I also need that radio effect too. Voice recording with tone of voice editing and radio effect is all I need. I can put them into the missions. I’m happy to work with multiple parties on this, and I can probably do the voice for the primary character myself. Again I know I’m asking a lot, so to make it a little more fair I’m willing to arrange purchasing a module for your time and effort. We would agree on what’s to be done, in exchange for what module. I’d buy the Tomcat or equivalent value if someone did both missions with editing. So... any takers? Todd “Dipstick” Barker Edited April 2, 2019 by deafaviator
Trubshaw Posted April 2, 2019 Posted April 2, 2019 Hi deaf aviator, Good luck with your quest. Have you seen Ranger79productions YouTube videos on voice files in DCS? They may help you. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] TrubshawRN -=SHREK 94=-
deafaviator Posted April 2, 2019 Author Posted April 2, 2019 Hi deaf aviator, Good luck with your quest. Have you seen Ranger79productions YouTube videos on voice files in DCS? They may help you. I did! Thanks for the suggestion. Good videos. It’s my ears that are the problem though lol. I can’t hear well enough to make good voice files with varying tones of voices and effects. j-tk Posted April 4, 2019 Posted April 4, 2019 I'd gladly help you for free. Have done some minor bits before in indie games, and can do a usual deep base to a few higher octaves. Can also add several foreign accents, depending on need. Retired, so always looking for things to keep my memory sharp. Just PM me if you are still interested or in need.
tsb47 Posted April 7, 2019 Posted April 7, 2019 I might be able to help too, depending on how much is involved. Send me the script, assign me a role and I can send you back some test files. Will do for free. Windows 7 Enterprise 64bit | i7-4790K@4GHz | 8GB RAM | GTX970 347.52
deafaviator Posted April 7, 2019 Author Posted April 7, 2019 Thanks to all of you guys! How do I send y’all a script file? The way my mission is set up at the moment, it’s all in timed messages to group, if that matters. Todd “Dipstick” Barker
tsb47 Posted April 7, 2019 Posted April 7, 2019 Ummm. Send a text file with our lines. By 'script' I meant movie script (rather than a lua script). I assume you want us to send back the audio as individual .ogg files for each line? Do you want us to add any effects or anything (white noise, filters etc)? Windows 7 Enterprise 64bit | i7-4790K@4GHz | 8GB RAM | GTX970 347.52
deafaviator Posted April 7, 2019 Author Posted April 7, 2019 Oh lol I thought you meant a lua script file. I was like I can send you the mission file from the miz but that’s a mess lol Okay let me put together a script for you guys and get it sent. Todd “Dipstick” Barker
deafaviator Posted April 7, 2019 Author Posted April 7, 2019 Alright guys. I think I have the first mission ready to go. Here’s a link to it: https://1drv.ms/u/s!Ao1GdPnFY9bnxCI5bLRxU_itejLw Please give it a try and I’d love your feedback on it. Here’s the script: https://1drv.ms/t/s!Ao1GdPnFY9bnxCPXHu0Tw760coeN I’d like to try and coordinate with everyone as much as possible. I’m thinking probably just need a plain voice recording. I figured out how to do the radio effect so I think I can do that. Do you guys know if these sound files have to be included with the miz file separately when I upload it or are they enclosed into the miz file? I will be the voice of Breaker 1. I will have my girlfriend do the voice of Vaziani Tower. I need voices for: LSO - 1 line Stennis - 2 lines Crate 1 - 3 lines Rawhide 1 - 5 lines Jackal 1 - 8 lines Overlord - 8 lines Plank - 18 lines I recommend running the mission to get an idea of the pace and mood, then doing the voices. Alright so with all of that out of the way... who’s down for what? Todd “Dipstick” Barker
tsb47 Posted April 7, 2019 Posted April 7, 2019 I will just do one voice (I can't do accents or anything). So let me know what role you want me to play. Windows 7 Enterprise 64bit | i7-4790K@4GHz | 8GB RAM | GTX970 347.52
smallberries Posted April 8, 2019 Posted April 8, 2019 I had fun doing a voiceover for someone else, I'll take a look at it this week.
Paganus Posted April 8, 2019 Posted April 8, 2019 When you add the sound file trigger inside the editor, you will select the file from the folder it is in. The editor will embed the sound file into the mission. The .miz file is a .zip. You can change it from miz to zip and unpack it if you want to look at how it is structured. This is also how you get custom kneeboard files in at the moment. Inside a /Kneeboard folder.
AeriaGloria Posted April 8, 2019 Posted April 8, 2019 Is this for Hornets or Tomcats? I don’t have any western navy planes to fly the mission with. I am willing to do one voice though Black Shark Den Squadron Member: We are open to new recruits, click here to check us out or apply to join! https://blacksharkden.com
tsb47 Posted April 8, 2019 Posted April 8, 2019 Rawhide 1 Rawhide 1 reporting for duty. First time doing this. Constructive feedback appreciated. Happy to re-record if you need.Rawhide 1 - Sound Breakers clips.zip Windows 7 Enterprise 64bit | i7-4790K@4GHz | 8GB RAM | GTX970 347.52
Iceviper Posted May 13, 2019 Posted May 13, 2019 Not sure if this helps but if you don't get enough actors you could try using https://ttsmp3.com/ Type up your script. Download the mp3's. Edit in something like audacity to give the radio fx and the required .ogg files. I've used this page. Although not perfect some of the voices are pretty decent and by using the page's features you can make the sounds a bit more realistic.
