That is only found on updated A models. I do not know what it is. But if you see it, it normally means the photo is from an A model F-16. So you are comparing a A model (could be block 10 to 20) to the DCS F-16 block 50 after CCIP circa 2007. Yes, they are going to be different.

To whom it may concern,

I am an idiot, unfortunately for the world, I have a internet connection and a fondness for beer....apologies for that.

Thank you for you patience.

You usually see those on the Euro Vipers, which I believe are all A models like Mvsgas said. I remember asking about it a long time ago and I seem to recall it was some kind of sensor for helmet-mounted tech. Automatically turning off NVGs when the pilot looks forward towards the HUD or something?

I don't think the ENTER button is raised like that on USAF vipers. Give me a day and I'll get back with an update.

EDIT: Check and it does have a raised ENTER button.

Confirmed that the ENTER button is slightly taller or extends further outwards than the other UFC buttons.

That circle/cylinder in the ICPs of the AM F-16s is what registers the movement of the HMCMS. It's only in the MLU A and B models since the C models have a different system of tracking the helmet.

Do you mean this same sensor block 50 with JHMCS have.

In case your wondering how to tell it is an A model, look at the color of the Jettison system warning.

Photo taken from here

Here you can see both sensors, The one over the ICP and the JHMCS on the left side of the canopy.

Some of the thing to note

The sensor over the ICP

The different VVI gauge

The different master arm panel

Different RPM gauge

Notice how this ICP is different from the one in the First post as well, even tho both are A models

Note the different UHF back up panel
