Hi folks. Relative newcomer to DCS and flying (bought the Mirage as my first module from e-shop last month).

I play on standalone and I plan on purchasing the Harrier, Nevada and PG from the e-shop sometime tonight/tomorrow. I fully prefer to purchase and support the devs if I can....BUT....I also have some spare credit on my steam wallet that I would like use up, and I would like use it on the F/A-18 when the steam sales start and then transfer the module from steam to standalone. Am I correct in thinking this is something I can do? Was just watching a DCS twitch stream and mentioned on there my intentions, and it was suggested that I would NOT be able to transfer my F/A-18 purchase from steam to standalone???

Could anyone here that knows for definite please advise me.

Thank you for your help.

From my understanding it should not be a problem.

Here are some modules released on Steam after 12-May-2017:

DCS: M-2000C; DCS: Nevada map; DCS: Spitfire; DCS: AJS-37; DCS: Normandy map; DCS: WW2 Assets pack; DCS: Su-33; DCS: AV-8B Night Attack V/STOL; DCS: F/A-18C; DCS: Persian Gulf map

as well as many new campaigns starting from the Museum Relic campaign.

You always can find the date in the Steam store - Sort by Release date

These modules can be bound and activated on the DCS World e-shop version from the site.

Thank you for the confirmation. This is what I thought.

I have already been bitten by the DCS bug and simply wan't to grab as much as I can afford in the sales ( I missed out in the earlier Spring sale ) and that Steam wallet is crying out to be used.

I am excited and looking forward to my selections and should keep my noobie mind occupied for quite some time to come.

I've a friend who does that often, buying on Steam and activating on standalone. Should work fine in most cases.

Yes, you do that by linking your Steam account into your ED account ... that linking is done on this url: https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/personal/profile/ ... use the section "Steam account"

That way, any license purchased on steam is also present on ED.

The binding of accounts that I mentioned above is relatively new, so most likely the person that told you that was giving you outdated information.

Best regards
