Ala12Rv-watermanpc Posted June 29, 2019 Posted June 29, 2019 (edited) I have been out for a few weeks now... after updating dcs found in the Hornet that the DDI's screens have an odd circle effect. Also the analog gauges glass look very dark depending of the position with respect to the sun. I can see this even happening to Matt Wagner in his latest videos. I haven't seen it reported. No mods installed. Screens: Edit with track+dcs_log+dxdiag in post 15 Thanks! Edited July 1, 2019 by watermanpc Take a look at my MODS here
KTFBGB Posted June 30, 2019 Posted June 30, 2019 That is strange. I can’t say I have noticed this. Have you tried deleting your meta shaders folder and the other one (can’t remember what its called, FXI or DXI?) since the last update?
Sierra99 Posted June 30, 2019 Posted June 30, 2019 FXO and Metashaders folders. ... I Just flew for a couple of hours and didn't notice that. Obviously there cause you have a screen shot but I'm not sure why... I'd try dumping the FXO and Metashaders file then run a repair just for good measure. If it's still there let's us know. Ala12Rv-watermanpc Posted June 30, 2019 Author Posted June 30, 2019 (edited) Yeah, I always refresh those folders in every update...I dont think it is a problem in my end as, as said before, even in last wags videos you can see this issue...the circles are particulary visible when the sun is directly casting light on them and the size of the "circle" varies according to the angle of the light. In this video by Waggs, it is also happening just the light is not at the best angle to make the issue as strong as in the images I posted. No clue what could be causing this. Harker Posted June 30, 2019 Posted June 30, 2019 I've also seen that once 2.5.5 rolled in and I tried deleting fxo and metashaders and repairing etc. Initially, I thought it was an issue with my cockpit mod, but it happens with vanilla textures as well. My guess for the DDIs is that they show up like that because they're curved CRTs behind the protective glass. I don't know why the gauges are like that. I think there were some changes regarding shadow rendering or lighting in 2.5.5 that are responsible. The vCVW-17 is looking for Hornet and Tomcat pilots and RIOs. Join the vCVW-17 Discord. KTFBGB Posted June 30, 2019 Posted June 30, 2019 In my hornet right now. I don’t have the circles or weird shadows
Ala12Rv-watermanpc Posted June 30, 2019 Author Posted June 30, 2019 Why is the post marked as "missing track file"?¿?¿?...what track file should I include? isn't enough with the pictures AND the wags videos??? Take a look at my MODS here
KTFBGB Posted June 30, 2019 Posted June 30, 2019 Why is the post marked as "missing track file"?¿?¿?...what track file should I include? isn't enough with the pictures AND the wags videos??? If you read the instructions on how to post a bug, it says you must post a track file. Otherwise they can’t see what your settings are etc. and won’t investigate until you provide one.
Harker Posted June 30, 2019 Posted June 30, 2019 In my hornet right now. I don’t have the circles or weird shadowsYou only get it at certain sun angles. Try flying with the sun on your back. NO!, as I said in the first post, this is happening without ANY mod (even removed the mods under the "tech" folder)...my mod only makes it a bit more evident...The first and last screens are using vanilla textures. once again, even Matt Wagner is experiencing this issue in the videos...I cant believe everyone seems to ignore that :huh::huh: In his last video it is also clearly there when the sun is at the correct angle. I have tested in all 4 maps and it is happening in all of them... to make the effect very visible the sun must directly impact in the screens slightly from avobe (if you see the specular then there is when the dark circle is most visible) Added track+log files.hornet screens issue.trkdcs_log.rar Edited July 2, 2019 by watermanpc Take a look at my MODS here

KTFBGB Posted July 1, 2019 Posted July 1, 2019 I cant say it looks any different. My settings plus screen shots from PG and NTTR. Both DDI's are curved as far as I am aware. So you get shadows. Maybe you shadows setting or gamma setting has something to do with iit.
Eldur Posted July 2, 2019 Posted July 2, 2019 It's also visible on the most recent screenshots with the HPD on stations.

Thomasew Posted July 5, 2019 Posted July 5, 2019 Hi, I get this effect when I use Ultra Shadows, .. turning Shadows down to Low or Medium tends to reduce the effect, .. but then the Shadows are crappy. :( All other Aircraft with MFDs etc. seem to be fine, .. it's just the Hornet. Cheers Tom He Who Will Not Risk Cannot Win

Cheers TomProbably because the Hornet has curved CRT DDIs behind glass and other aircraft, such as the Harrier, the Warthog and the Tomcat use (at least in the sim) flat screens. Certainly seems like cockpit shadows are kinda weird overall in the Hornet right now. The vCVW-17 is looking for Hornet and Tomcat pilots and RIOs. Join the vCVW-17 Discord.
