Tinkickef Posted July 21, 2019 Posted July 21, 2019 (edited) Any news of a toggle on off pilot body being implemented for VR users yet? It is there in the rear pit if you jump in the back seat, when replaying track files; trouble is Jester needs beheading. Hard to get in the right position. Either too far forward or you are looking at the inside of Jesters oxygen mask. Tinkickef Posted July 21, 2019 Author Posted July 21, 2019 (edited) When you say it is there, you can activate it with Right shift+P? No, it is just an artefact of the track file replay. It is not operational. However, whatever he is, he appears to have a deal with some aircraft breaker or other because he sells all the switch panels in the rear pit. Just console frames and wiring bundles left after his "little deal". Amazing how detailed the Cat is under the visible switch panels actually. IronMike Posted July 21, 2019 Posted July 21, 2019 The pilot bodies are still WIP, due to the newly introduced animations, it takes a bit longer. Thank you for your patience, guys. Milopapa Posted July 21, 2019 Posted July 21, 2019 Mike, while we're on the subject. In VR one of the only issues with a pilot body is that it will sometime block certain instruments or controls and you can't "reach" them with your virtual cursor. I thought it about how this is not a problem IRL and I've come up with a solution: when you move the virtual cursor over a body part that's obstructing instrument, the virtual pilot should move said body part out of the way, as if trying to avoid being hit by the cursor. I'm not sure if it's possible to do in the engine (I expect the pilot body is more or less static), but now you mentioned animations, so I thought I'd throw this in. The thing is, that exactly these kind of animations are not of the easy kind, if you want to get it as fluent as is atm. But the general idea is good of course, maybe it can be made transparent when hovered above or some other work around, but it is always a thing of feasability. We'll definitely think about it, but if something like that is possible, I cannot promise. Larkis Posted July 23, 2019 Posted July 23, 2019 Personaly i think a switch to turn body on/off is enough.
Tinkickef Posted July 23, 2019 Author Posted July 23, 2019 Personaly i think a switch to turn body on/off is enough. Agreed. My pilot body in the F18 is mapped to the autopilot on off button on my warthog throttle. IronMike Posted July 23, 2019 Posted July 23, 2019 That will be there anyway guys, but the pilot and RIO animations have to be congruent to the already existing animations from non-own view. Can't wait to see this first person :) I also hope ED will return pilot shadows with next patch, it was so cool while it was working, I could block the screens from sunlight by moving my own body, very cool feature to have back!
