Moafuleum Posted July 29, 2019 Posted July 29, 2019 (edited) Hi I noticed a strange behavior with the JDAMs in TOO mode. I select several stations for release by choosing the respective station in the QTY menu in the JDAM DSPLY menu, accessible from the stores page. I set up a test mission for which i loaded up 6 JDAMs, 1 bomb on STA 2 and STA 8, 2 bombs on STA 3, STA 7. I selected STA2 and STA 8 for the first run. I expect both bombs to fall onto WPT 1 as this is the designated target waypoint. The first bomb's trajectory is as expected and hits the target accordingly. However the second bomb follows a trajectory by 90° off the target direction and therefore detonates very far away from the target. Please see the attached trk files. I flew the mission three times, each time trying a combination of different stations selected in the QTY menu. I expect every bomb to hit the target as there was never another point designated. This is however not the case for every combination. Thanks for having a look Edit: I know that in the last track, everything works fine. I attached it to showcase different scenarios.Jdam_strange1.trkJdam_strange2.trkJdam_strange3.trk Edited July 30, 2019 by Moafuleum
KTFBGB Posted July 30, 2019 Posted July 30, 2019 After each release you have to designate the target again. If you want to drop 2 on waypoint 2, then you have to re-designate waypoint 2 after selecting the next JDAM.
Longiron Posted July 30, 2019 Posted July 30, 2019 Setting a TOO then selecting stations for release uses each stations selected TOO not the first station ie the TOO does not get copied over to all stations selected for release You want two bombs on one target you need to set TOO on both stations to target then from either station select the other for simultaneous release. No idea if the real hornet works this way or the way you thought, I had the same head scratcher myself. Some tips I found You can copy a TOO into a PP not the other way and you can convert lat longs in the waypoint page by changing the AC waypoint mode then push it over to a TOO then copy into a PP if you want to “save” the target into a station. I find TOO pointless currently without the TGP and other than the above situation I use PP
Moafuleum Posted July 30, 2019 Author Posted July 30, 2019 Setting a TOO then selecting stations for release uses each stations selected TOO not the first station ie the TOO does not get copied over to all stations selected for release But why did all bombs hit the target in the last trackfile? In this attempt, i set QTY to all stations, designate the target and release. However i only set the target waypoint only once.
ED Team NineLine Posted July 30, 2019 ED Team Posted July 30, 2019 There is a fix coming for JDAM TOO mode, I think it might be related to what is seen here, please have a look once you get the next update and report back with new tracks if it's still not working as expected.
