Greekbull Posted August 5, 2019 Posted August 5, 2019 I've had multiple flights where my D/L wasn't sending any data even though I set it up and turned it on to the correct channel 127. When I noticed I didn't have any data on my D/L I pulled it up and noticed my Channel was 168...tonight when flying with my squadron we had multiple jets have the same issue and here is what we surmised.... We all fired up our jets. Part of our setup was turning on the D/L and IFF etc. Then we setup our stores with Laser codes...I used 1688...this caused the D/L to also change to 168(grabbed the first 3 numbers)...I had to change it back to 127 in flight to get data. We had this issue with multiple people in our flight with the D/Ls all being changed to the first 3 digits fo the laser code. Harker Posted August 5, 2019 Posted August 5, 2019 This is an older bug I thought was resolved. I tested it after I saw your post and indeed, it's back (or wasn't fixed? theinmigrant Posted August 5, 2019 Posted August 5, 2019 Hi guys! I wanted to ask something about this. How does the D/L freq work exactly? And also, what about the Tacan that now doesn't need to be ON for the D/L to work? (It must be on according to Natops, due to them sharing spectrum) Thanks!
Jak525 Posted August 5, 2019 Posted August 5, 2019 D/L frequency is and will not be simulated per the latest update to the manual.
theinmigrant Posted August 5, 2019 Posted August 5, 2019 D/L frequency is and will not be simulated per the latest update to the manual. Yeah, I just read that. I'll have to admit, I don't like simplified implementations, I hate classified information. I get the point though. I'm just so dissapointed that the Hornet ended up having so much classified data and so many simplified systems. To simply matters and avoid sensitive areas, all network options will be configured automatically. Sorry for the offtopic, just needed to get it out of my system.
AvroLanc Posted August 6, 2019 Posted August 6, 2019 D/L frequency is and will not be simulated per the latest update to the manual. This is a real shame I agree. MIDs use is pretty simple even in real thing from what I've read. As long as the MIDS data is loaded from the data cartridge the operation is pretty transparent to the pilot. He has little to set up that can't be simulated for ours needs. I was reading about it from an F-16 manual. Bascially it's: Load the data cartridge / MUMI page - which contains the preloaded channels / frequencies Ensure you've got a good GPS time (Non-NTR) or enter the correct time (NTR) Hit 'Network entry' and watch the sync status go to 'Fine Sync' I'm not sure what can't be simulated about that. Surely the Mission editor could have a additional 'MIDS channel' option for each Link-16 capable aircraft. Ensure the channels match for your mission and there you go, immersion and realism increased.
