What is the difference between the Mig29S and Mig29”M” ? Besides the ability of looping all the way around (super kobra) witch I wish Lomac could emulate….

I have to admit this mig knows how to dance in the skies. I’m impressed.

That's a Mig29 OVT not the Mig29M

The M has a glass cockpit and 2 extra weapons pylons, one on each wing. Unsure about other differences.

The MiG-29M is an entirely new multirole variant of the MiG-29 and is different from the "baseline" version on just about every area - different airframe & undercarriage, engines, avionics, weapons control system, radar and EOS, RWR etc.

In comparison the MiG-29S is just a slightly upgraded baseline MiG-29.

The "OVT" is actually a MiG-29M ;) - more specifically it is the sixth MiG-29M(9-15) prototype(bort # 156), which was fitted with TVC engines.

MiG-29S (9.13S) - is the export derivative of the base 9.13 for Malaysia. It carries R-77 missiles and has the capability to attack two targets simultaneously. There were very few of them in service of Russian AF (as I've heard they were not equipped with R-77).

MiG-29M (9.15) - is (was) the advanced derivative of MiG-29 with better aerodynamics and weapons capability. Was never in production for any air force. The project was cancelled in mid-90s.

The movies feature MiG-29OVT. It is mostly TVC technology demonstrator. However it was equipped recently with new cockpit avionics (without weapons employment capability of course).

The latest featured aircraft by Mikoyan is MiG-35 (previously known as MiG-29M2). It is without TVC, but is equipped with a pretty advanced avionics set (including weapons control system).

Perhaps the only common thing between these two aircraft is the ejection seat ;)

"See, to me that's a stupid instrument. It tells what your angle of attack is. If you don't know you shouldn't be flying." - Chuck Yeager, from the back seat of F-15D at age 89.

I'm more impressed with MiG-35. I believe it the most advanced russian aircraft today!

So if ED decides to include newer Fulcrums I'll vote for 35!

I never was much of a acro guy!
