For example, F-14 without tanks has 16000 fuel, with tanks 20000 fuel. But external tanks are fully empty when indicator has 13000 total fuel. What about numbers for Viggen? Currently I drop them at 100%

Im to lazy to drop it. I only drop it if i need to run.

No point keeping them on below 100% of fuel.

Unless you really want to pretend you're flying a real airplane :-)

Isn't this why we play this game? :music_whistling:

The external fuel tank on the Viggen isn’t a drop tank, really.

It’s only supposed to be dropped in case of an emergency.

If it’s empty, there’s very little or no performance gain in dropping it.

I'm not so sure about that. I don't recall the exact numbers but I tried that on the 107th server a few months ago and the Viggen went quite a bit faster without the tank both in dry thrust and with afterburner.:music_whistling:

An empty X-tank will of course add some drag, but not enough to warrant dropping it.

Dropping the tank may become necessary if the flight control system is damaged as it can lead to yaw and roll instability.

But other than such instances, the tank should stay on.

Could be different in DCS, of course.
