GGTharos Posted August 8, 2011 Posted August 8, 2011 See the little turreted balls? Probably IRCM ... which is why it might not have flare dispensers. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Reminder: SAM = Speed Bump :D I used to play flight sims like you, but then I took a slammer to the knee - Yoda
aaron886 Posted August 8, 2011 Posted August 8, 2011 Total reliance on electronic IRCM... interesting...
GGTharos Posted August 8, 2011 Posted August 8, 2011 Yep ... DIRCM for the win. Frankly I'd rather have some CM buckets there as well. AFAIK apache's are now set to use both. mvsgas Posted August 8, 2011 Posted August 8, 2011 It might have the buckets, but covered. We use weather covers when they are not in use. mikoyan Posted August 9, 2011 Posted August 9, 2011 That's right, the idea behind the Ho (or Go) 229 was to be a high speed bomber, I find the dogfighting stories also doubtful, but we'll never know.. Also interesting that the jet was covered in Charcoal, used as absorber for radar waves. yaw stability is an issue and also stalls; they tend to flip like a strip of paper when they stall; Probably that is why the germans made the center section extend further back. I beth that loosing on engine could be catastrophic specially when you are using spoilers to keep the airplane straight.

aaron886 Posted August 9, 2011 Posted August 9, 2011 Yep ... DIRCM for the win. Frankly I'd rather have some CM buckets there as well. AFAIK apache's are now set to use both. Hence "interesting." I'm not convinced it's mature enough for standalone operation. :)
Bucic Posted August 10, 2011 Posted August 10, 2011 This is sooo cool:). power5 Posted August 10, 2011 Posted August 10, 2011 Wow formation landings. Never seen that before. Now lets see some commercial airliner formation maneuvers. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Aaron i7 2600k@4.4ghz, GTX1060-6gb, 16gb DDR3, T16000m, Track IR5 BS2-A10C-UH1-FC3-M2000-F18C-A4E-F14B-BF109
Griffin Posted August 10, 2011 Posted August 10, 2011 According to this picture the Ka-52 certainly does have 3 pylons on each wing:
mvsgas Posted August 10, 2011 Posted August 10, 2011 But what version of the KA-52 is that? Prototype? m0jo Posted August 10, 2011 Posted August 10, 2011 The flare dispenser seem to be missing from some Ka-50 (board #23 and #27). The gunner on the Ka-52 have some weird control
Griffin Posted August 10, 2011 Posted August 10, 2011 Thanks guys! Very interesting. Finnish helicopters have their dispensers blanked too. I already forgot. Would be awesome to find out what modern Russian heliopters are actually capable of. Ka-52 keeps me fascinated with it's mysterious equipment. :)
