Airway Posted November 8, 2009 Posted November 8, 2009 I'm not posting anything, I'm requesting more of those "in the air hanging" russian jetfigher videos! They are so cool and amazing to watch, that I hope we are attacked by the Russians in WW3, only to watch their cool jetfighters :)
Pilotasso Posted November 8, 2009 Posted November 8, 2009 Up to now the Su35 has 2 incarnations. Thats the 90's Su-35. The current one doesnt have cannards but is more advanced. .

Vekkinho Posted November 8, 2009 Posted November 8, 2009 Airframes built in KNAAPO had canards, ones from IAPO didn't! Simple as that! [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]

Pilotasso Posted November 8, 2009 Posted November 8, 2009 Canards are sexy. Leave them on the plane. especially from this view :) I actualy preffer the cannardless version. Looks more slender and sleek. IRL cannards also added weight and they were there because of analog FBW, now that there is digital for both pitch and roll there is no need for that apenctice. .
Vekkinho Posted November 8, 2009 Posted November 8, 2009 More info on Tu-142 mishap: http://news.xinhuanet.com/english/2009-11/07/content_12406059.htm http://www.newsru.com/russia/07nov2009/tu.html "Black box" may provide data on reasons of the crash only if recovered withing 36 hours! Exposure to salt water for a longer period would make it busted! This is kinda funny given the fact Tu-142M3 is a Naval bird and flies over seas quite often! [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
EvilBivol-1 Posted November 9, 2009 Author Posted November 9, 2009 Sad news but after 15+ years of "out of service" for those russian bombers things like this are very possible! Apperantly that particular aircraft was constructed in 1990 and had only flown about 700 hours. - EB [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Nothing is easy. Everything takes much longer. topol-m Posted November 9, 2009 Posted November 9, 2009 (edited) BAGHDAD (AP) — The U.S. military says two American pilots have died in a helicopter crash in Iraq. A military statement says the two pilots were killed on Sunday (November 8 ), during a "hard landing" in the Salahuddin province north of Baghdad. There were no further details in the statement, which was released on Monday. The names of the pilots are being withheld until the military can notify family members. The statement said the incident is under investigation. Edit: And a list of helicopter losses in Iraq. What draws the attention is the number of apaches shot down by insurgents fire (after the ending of major combat operations in the 2004-2009 period). http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_aviation_shootdowns_and_accidents_during_the_Iraq_War Edited November 9, 2009 by topol-m [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
Zulu Posted November 9, 2009 Posted November 9, 2009 Gee I never realised that many aircraft have been shot down, its weird how this is not really reported on in the media. To INVENT an Airplane is Nothing. To BUILD One is Something. But to FLYis EVERYTHING. - Otto Lilienthal [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
BTTW-DratsaB Posted November 9, 2009 Posted November 9, 2009 Yeah, I find it odd that the media never pics ups on that either. It's the same with Armor losses. Supposedly up to 80 (IRC) M1 tanks have been damaged badly enough to have to be sent back to the US for repair, never heard about one of these in the media, I guess Vietnam taught them a lot. Anyway, RIP to the pilots and my thoughts are with their families. :( Specs: GA-Z87X-UD3H, i7-4770k, 16GB, RTX2060, SB AE-5, 750watt Corsair PSU, X52, Track IR4, Win10x64. Well yes, if recordings and news covereage weren't prohibited we could also check number number of coffins being unloaded from C-17... [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]

It would surely reveal Achiles stand of a certain armour/aircraft if it gets published! [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
