Aircraft Carrier Missione Editor Question

In pictures and videos online, I've seen in the mission editor the actual outline of carriers, so people can place aircraft in parking spots and all that, but I don't have this. Is this a bug or something?

Click the tank icon on the lower right of the mission editor.

 

 

I'd also suggest saving your mission before doing this because it lags when you click it, at least for me.

Actually, on current dcs carriers you can place aircrafts (ai or player-controlled) only at very specific parking places .. those aircrafts that you see on other places are usually static aircrafts placed for ambiance purposes.

 

The Kuznetsov has three parkings, the Vinson has 4, the Tarawa also has 4, only the Stennis has space for 12 aircrafts, tough on the ME they appear at only 4 positions, overlapping each other .. these are the Stennis parkings as seen on the ME:

 

 

But the aircraft actually show up on these places when the mission runs:

Try using the 'Russia' Editor Icon Style under Settings - Gameplay.

As said, click the tank icon. That will display an image of the unit to give you an idea of its dimensions.

 

As rudel says, parking for player or AI aircraft that will actually be operated in the mission is limited to a few positions that are automatically assigned.

 

If you just want to place static objects for scenery purposes, place the static then click "offset fixation" and select the carrier as the link unit.
