DCS FIGHTER PILOT Posted October 2, 2019 Posted October 2, 2019 Hello all, What is the deal with ECM Jamming in DCS world? Why is it the FC3 aircraft can have their radars “jammed,” while other planes, like the Hornet and Tomcat, appear to be unaffected by a jammer? Is it that their radars are more powerful/newer or is it because jamming is not modeled yet in these planes?
Fri13 Posted October 2, 2019 Posted October 2, 2019 The DCS currently only performs a noise jammer. There is no complex ECM in the DCS that would make the jamming any worthwhile for anything else than just shorten the range when your jammer is burn through (and again very simple manner). i7-8700k, 32GB 2666Mhz DDR4, 2x 2080S SLI 8GB, Oculus Rift S. i7-8700k, 16GB 2666Mhz DDR4, 1080Ti 11GB, 27" 4K, 65" HDR 4K.
AeriaGloria Posted October 2, 2019 Posted October 2, 2019 Rudel said he got full documentation on the MiG-21 ECM and insinuated it might be worked on! And I have been jammed by Hornets and Tomcats, you just can’t jam them no matter what Black Shark Den Squadron Member: We are open to new recruits, click here to check us out or apply to join! https://blacksharkden.com

backspace340 Posted October 3, 2019 Posted October 3, 2019 And I have been jammed by Hornets and Tomcats, you just can’t jam them no matter what You've not been jammed by a player's Hornet - it doesn't have a working jammer.
AeriaGloria Posted October 3, 2019 Posted October 3, 2019 Thanks I was wrong about the Hornet. As for the post about MiG-21 ECM, it’s not much but this was the post I meant https://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=4051657&postcount=17 Black Shark Den Squadron Member: We are open to new recruits, click here to check us out or apply to join! https://blacksharkden.com
Stratos Posted October 3, 2019 Posted October 3, 2019 And this problem only concerns "on board" carried ECM, imagine now all the jamming possibilites of specialized planes jamming entire air groups. Jamming has been present since the late 60's, and of course is hard to model, but we are getting a totally biased warfare letting jamming out of the equation. I don't understand anything in russian except Davai Davai!
QuiGon Posted October 4, 2019 Posted October 4, 2019 (edited) The Hornet and the F-14 are missing the effects for being jammed yet. The Hornet is even missing its own working jammer, while the Tomcat has that already. See here: https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=247462 Edit: According to Heatblur, the Tomcat can already be jammed, but it will only make it harder for the radar to achieve a lock. Apart from this there are no jamming effects simulated yet in the Tomcat and the Hornet unlike the M2000, the MiG-21 and the FC3 aircraft that do show jamming effects on their radar displays when being jammed. Edit2: @Harlikwin: All jamming in DCS does reduce the range of AI SAMs. Edited October 4, 2019 by QuiGon Intel i7-12700K @ 8x5GHz+4x3.8GHz + 32 GB DDR5 RAM + Nvidia Geforce RTX 2080 (8 GB VRAM) + M.2 SSD + Windows 10 64Bit DCS Panavia Tornado (IDS) really needs to be a thing!

upyr1 Posted October 8, 2019 Posted October 8, 2019 I'd love to see their jamming model improved- I want an EB-66
