ED Team Groove Posted October 17, 2007 ED Team Posted October 17, 2007 Good job. I hope you use a good CPU Cooler ! Our Forum Rules: http://forums.eagle.ru/rules.php#en
Kuky Posted October 17, 2007 Posted October 17, 2007 use CoreTemp to check CPU temperature as it's the most accurate one reading right of the CPU die... and for that high of an o/c you better be using water cooling :) No longer active in DCS...
Raised_Dead85 Posted October 17, 2007 Author Posted October 17, 2007 Okay first off i did post my rig and i guess some of you did not check it out! I have water cooling. Kuky where can i get that software? I will set my computer Specs under my signature so so that everbody can know whats up! |Windows 8 64bit|I7-950| |X58Mobo| |1T HDD| |18gigs PC3-16000 TC 2000mhz||Nvidia GTX 660 Ti Graphics||Cougar HOTAS-CHPedals/TIR5ProClip|

Kuky Posted October 17, 2007 Posted October 17, 2007 just google for it... http://www.thecoolest.zerobrains.com/CoreTemp/ if by any chance you notice reboots after you instal and run this verion of core temp, just uninstall and get version 0.94 No longer active in DCS...
Raised_Dead85 Posted October 17, 2007 Author Posted October 17, 2007 So this isnt good enough? |Windows 8 64bit|I7-950| |X58Mobo| |1T HDD| |18gigs PC3-16000 TC 2000mhz||Nvidia GTX 660 Ti Graphics||Cougar HOTAS-CHPedals/TIR5ProClip|

As you can see i used the utility instead of going into BIOS. :) I'm happy that you bought a really nice rig there after long search here. I suggest you that check your CPU core temperature with Intel's TAT program. It'll give you do exact values. If you ask me you achieved to 3500mhz with lower voltage than mine so maybe you can push your limit more even. Just remember all time FSB : RAM ratio must 1:1 to get the best performance. Raised_Dead85 Posted October 18, 2007 Author Posted October 18, 2007 Okay Torwak this is what i got when downloading the CPUZ. I need youre help in gettting 1:1 ratio for the FSB/DRAM. I have no clue how to adjust this! |Windows 8 64bit|I7-950| |X58Mobo| |1T HDD| |18gigs PC3-16000 TC 2000mhz||Nvidia GTX 660 Ti Graphics||Cougar HOTAS-CHPedals/TIR5ProClip|
3Sqn_Fudd Posted October 18, 2007 Posted October 18, 2007 Is this stable? 1 http://3sqn.com/forum/ Here's to 1.13 -- > http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h0488djMDBU
Kuky Posted October 18, 2007 Posted October 18, 2007 hm... I don't like that PC Probe measurement because it doesn't read the temperature of the CPU die. When I first got my current CPU (E6600) PC Probe gave me on average about 10°C lower temperature then what CoreTemp reported, which is why I don't trust it and on many forums where people discuss o/c they all say CoreTemp gives most accurate reading. now, to get CPU-RAM 1:1 ratio you'll need to manually select RAM frequency in BIOS (disable timing by SPD and manually sellect RAM speed and timings) by the way, those readings from PC Probe are for Idle or 100% CPU load? No longer active in DCS...
Raised_Dead85 Posted October 18, 2007 Author Posted October 18, 2007 Is this stable? So far it is. But im not done yet. Im planning to overclock to 4.5ghz! |Windows 8 64bit|I7-950| |X58Mobo| |1T HDD| |18gigs PC3-16000 TC 2000mhz||Nvidia GTX 660 Ti Graphics||Cougar HOTAS-CHPedals/TIR5ProClip|
Raised_Dead85 Posted October 18, 2007 Author Posted October 18, 2007 now, to get CPU-RAM 1:1 ratio you'll need to manually select RAM frequency in BIOS (disable timing by SPD and manually sellect RAM speed and timings) by the way, those readings from PC Probe are for Idle or 100% CPU load? I dont quiet understand that stuff Kuky. I went to Book A Milion store to see if i could find a overclocking for dumbies but they dint have jack. So no i need yalls overclocking expertiese |Windows 8 64bit|I7-950| |X58Mobo| |1T HDD| |18gigs PC3-16000 TC 2000mhz||Nvidia GTX 660 Ti Graphics||Cougar HOTAS-CHPedals/TIR5ProClip|
Raised_Dead85 Posted October 18, 2007 Author Posted October 18, 2007 I need to know what to raise my voltage to so that i get to go even more in the OC the CPU. I did a 400.00 freq with 9 CPU ratio my system became unstable. So its eighter i need to adjust the voltage, i guess...! My Dual Channel DDR3 memory lost to 957 FSB and it was originally 1066 FSB! |Windows 8 64bit|I7-950| |X58Mobo| |1T HDD| |18gigs PC3-16000 TC 2000mhz||Nvidia GTX 660 Ti Graphics||Cougar HOTAS-CHPedals/TIR5ProClip|
TorwaK Posted October 18, 2007 Posted October 18, 2007 Raised_Dead85 first of all don't trust temperature values of PC Probe. It can't read the temperature from cpu core so I suggested to use Intel Thermal Analysis Tool (TAT) download link is under below. http://www.techpowerup.com/downloads/392e/tat.exe To get 1:1 FSB-CPU ratio you must set your QDR / FSB speed synchronoused. Btw if you set 1:1 ratio FSB/CPU configration, you must set higher voltage value than default values to RAM sticks. An example, my RAM sticks default voltage value is 1,9V but I give them 2,3V to make my system stable, if not I get BSOD in games. Kuky Posted October 18, 2007 Posted October 18, 2007 er.. if I were you I'd leave it as is... I'm guessing your CPU temperatures are already high if that value is for idle state, and there is no way you'd get 4.5GHz out of it :D and again, to set CPU;RAM 1:1 ratio you'll need to go into BIOS, sellect RAM timings to manual and simply match FSB with RAM timings. Your CPU frequency will be 4xFSB frequency, so if you set FSB to 400MHz you'll get 1600MHz effective which would mean you'd need DDRII PC6400 to match it in 1:1 ratio, and RAM will be operating 800MHz (2x800=1600 for dual channel 800MHz) 1 No longer active in DCS...

3Sqn_Fudd Posted October 18, 2007 Posted October 18, 2007 Don't trust TAT.... Use core temp... Just trust me. and 4.5Ghz? lol ... If you can hit that you have "The <Beyond> Golden One" Was only asking about stability because there's a long way between booting into windows and stably stressing :) http://3sqn.com/forum/ Here's to 1.13 -- > http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h0488djMDBU
Raised_Dead85 Posted October 18, 2007 Author Posted October 18, 2007 Well i did manage to get 3.6mhz but in BIOS i wanted to make some adjustments well all i get it system oveclock error, so i have to go back and set everything to pervious state. Im so lost i have no clue! |Windows 8 64bit|I7-950| |X58Mobo| |1T HDD| |18gigs PC3-16000 TC 2000mhz||Nvidia GTX 660 Ti Graphics||Cougar HOTAS-CHPedals/TIR5ProClip|
Prophet Posted October 18, 2007 Posted October 18, 2007 If its not stable from the BIOS, its probably not stable. Get a program called Orthos, its Prime95 but loads both cores. And run CoreTemp to check load temps. Usually a few hours in that is stable, some do it for 24 hours. I would think 400FSB should be good for the CPU, but depends on the RAM. I got DDR2-800 RAM so I wouldnt have to worry about OC the RAM. Mine runs great with no added voltage. Oh and the ASUS tools suck, I bet you will stop using them.
