[PLEASE USE CORRECT SUB FORUMS] Missing steps in the Cold Start Training Mission

I think there are a few things missing from the Cold Start Training Mission:

1) set both Comms to squelch on (already discussed in another thread)

2) use Sym rotary to turn on HUD, and

3) turn on MIDS LVT.

 

All these are on at start of the Taxi/Take Off TM.

 

PS. I posted this in the missions sub forum a week ago, but I guess that wasn't the right place.

Having downloaded an excellent set of kneeboard files, which contain procedures that have apparently been confirmed with ED, those steps are included in the detailed startup list. I'm guessing that a modified startup mission will follow, but that is probably not too high a priority atm.

I'm sure you're right, but I just wanted to point it out, especially as a lot of people are confused about why TACAN isn't working, and not realising step 3) above.

Yup and i now use an instant action cold and dark start mission, along with the knee boards, instead of the training mission. That doesn't have the yellow highlights, but I seem to have picked up where the controls are anyway, probably and perhaps ironically from using the training mission.

I another thing missing is the call to atc ground for startup clearance. I wish the videos showed the radio calls that should be mandatory if we are going to realistic training

Not every group uses the “Start Request” call...

 

Over in the 476th, our ground ops do not require it.

Realistically speaking, calling Tower for permission to start-up isn't done in the real world USAF operations.
