Fri13 Posted November 1, 2019 Posted November 1, 2019 Is that one missing or what? Can´t find it from anywhere... i7-8700k, 32GB 2666Mhz DDR4, 2x 2080S SLI 8GB, Oculus Rift S. i7-8700k, 16GB 2666Mhz DDR4, 1080Ti 11GB, 27" 4K, 65" HDR 4K.
CBStu Posted November 1, 2019 Posted November 1, 2019 I keep seeing references to the second detent but I don't have it on my VKB Gladiator.
Brun Posted November 1, 2019 Posted November 1, 2019 Hornet is just a single-stage trigger, unless I'm mistaken. I would guess the second detent is used because it's the same button for firing a weapon as previous aircraft such as the Warthog. It also requires a more positive action than the first stage, which may prevent accidental release. I've mapped the trigger to the first stage, simply because it feels weird to pull 'through' one switch before activating the trigger. Brun Posted November 1, 2019 Posted November 1, 2019 In which case I was mistaken :) And that HUD tape thing does ring a bell. Asus Z690 Hero | 12900K | 64GB G.Skill 6000 | 4090FE | Reverb G2 | VPC MongoosT-50CM2 + TM Grips | Winwing Orion2 Throttle | MFG Crosswind Pedals
Phantom453 Posted November 2, 2019 Posted November 2, 2019 First stage trigger press latches the laser on (when so configured) an off (second press of the first trigger stage).
WOPR Posted November 2, 2019 Posted November 2, 2019 First stage trigger press latches the laser on (when so configured) an off (second press of the first trigger stage). I think your confusing the Hornet with the viper. 2nd detent in DCS also runs the laser on the Hornet. I could be wrong, but I believe the first answer of "single stage trigger" was correct. If you search the controls, there is only one trigger control for the Hornet.
Robin_Hood Posted November 2, 2019 Posted November 2, 2019 Phantom453 was likely talking about IRL, not what is currently in DCS. Per the NATOPS, there are indeed two detents, Etirion is correct. First detent triggers HUD tape, second detent launches missiles and generates a mark event in the tape. That is all the NATOPS says, which doesn't mean that's all there is to it, of course, because weapons systems are not described therin. 1 2nd French Fighter Squadron
Fri13 Posted November 6, 2019 Author Posted November 6, 2019 So are we going to expect to see a virtual HUD tape trigger there? As it is just so odd that there ain't any mention in bindings for the first detent, like why not have it there but not bindable, as it just confuse when you find the second but not first. i7-8700k, 32GB 2666Mhz DDR4, 2x 2080S SLI 8GB, Oculus Rift S. i7-8700k, 16GB 2666Mhz DDR4, 1080Ti 11GB, 27" 4K, 65" HDR 4K.

Just ignore the "second" part and consider it labeled as "gun trigger detent." Not really a big deal. If you have a Thrustmaster Warthog HOTAS (like I do), then you have the luxury of binding either the first, or second trigger detent - depending on what you like. Really not an issue, although they are attempting to model it "close to real life" - this would be one of the smallest issues they currently face.
