silentbob11 Posted November 29, 2019 Posted November 29, 2019 I'm having this weird problem for some time now flying with IFF and D/L on I can see hostiles as "red" contacts. Pressing TDC depress on it just get the radar to hover over the contact but it does not lock. I sometimes need to get up close and boresight it on ACM mode to get a lock. anyone got a clue? Kang Posted November 29, 2019 Posted November 29, 2019 Just a quick thought: could it be that it's a target displayed through DL, but you don't actually have radar contact? It might behind a ridge, or - more likely - outside of your radar vertical scan range.

OK lets assume that you're right and it's outside my vertical scan range - how can I tell the difference between a radar contact and a DL one? SB11 Hover over it. If it displays the altitude it's a radar contact, otherwise it's a datalink contact. There are other ways, but this is the easiest to explain. Bankler's CASE 1 Recovery Trainer

Tholozor Posted November 30, 2019 Posted November 30, 2019 Datalink contacts on the radar page will have a small HAFU with no number. A full radar contact correlated with datalink will always have a numbered track file (contacts that are not correlated with datalink will still appear as raw bricks though unless it's a TUC, not sure if there's an issue regarding that, might just be a multiplayer thing). mcfleck Posted November 30, 2019 Posted November 30, 2019 Happened to me a lot recently. Primarily on self hosted MP servers. I can see the DL target on the radar display, but my radar is not able to find the target even if the cursor is over the target and is set to the correct scan altitude (checked alt via SA page and even via F10 map) . One thing I have noticed that in this cases the PRF was not available at all despite being in AA Mode. A Workaround that worked for me: - Switch weapons - Leave the AA Mode - Go to AG Mode - switch back to AA Mode And it started working again, so I was able to lock targets with my radar again. Also noticeable is that SURF on the left side of the radar display was visible in AA Mode when it stopped working. Same happened to some guys in my squadron. After applying the above mentioned workaround, the radar started working again. It is not easy to reproduce, as this happens sporadically in situations where you are already quite some time in the mission. I will try and find the corresponding track file.
