Oculus Rift-S / Wireless EARBUDS Inquiry

I realize that there is also a thread for Wireless HEADPHONES, but my focus is on EARBUDS. I have my eye on the Rift S, and I can see that the speakers basically suck. I also see where headphones can be impeded by the Rift Headstrap. Bottom line, is anyone using any kind of noise cancelling, wireless earbuds that feel that the sound quality and performance are acceptable, perhaps even pleasing? I would even consider wired if performance was outstanding. my PC has no current Bluetooth capabilities. Thanks,

I use wired earbuds plugged into the Rift S Audio jack.

Sound is awesome to me.

Mine are The Ferro by Audio Elements.

I’d also be interested in the answer on this. I use standard wired earbuds and the dangling wire is kind of troublesome.

Thank you for that suggestion dburne, I was not aware of that product as an option. I went to the product website, very impressive. I was looking at the

"The Ferro / Elite earbuds",, how are yours regarding the ability to still hear some ambient noise? (I want to make sure I can still hear the wife call out for me " Dinners Ready ! Do you hear me? ") :}

If my wife walks up next to me and starts talking, I can hear her.

Not sure how calling out from a distance would be.

Does the use of earbuds disable the Rift S mic ? I use Voiceattack and am looking for an audio solution for my incoming Rift . And thanks , Don , for the Ferro reference . Those look very impressive .

No, you can still use the Rift's mic. Having it plugged into the audio jack just disables the audio from the audio strap.

I myself found the Rift S Mic to be very iffy for me, it would cut out a lot at bad times.

However that does not seem to be a prevalent issue over on the Oculus forums, a few have reported it but not many, so may just be a bad mic in my headset. I just added a desktop USB mic to my setup rather than go through the hassle of opening a support ticket.

I did stumble across this a few minutes ago while I was continuing my research. I haven't read thru it fully though.

Only issue with bluetooth earplugs is the bluetooth part, you will require dongle for the bluetooth part, and BT connectivity is a nightmare problem with potent EM fields that there happens to be a a lot of near a computer.

Some laptops have BT builtin, but yea mileage varies greatily, for dekstops, getting the transceiver on an extension cord and a little out of the main EM fields of the desktop would help greatly.

Also often suffer heavily from delayed audio, there is a reason no-one has made a BT gaming headset, and instead just do their own setup on an RF connection.

Personally I have no issues using a regular gaming headset, a g533 to be specific, it fits over the halo just fine, in fact better than with the old CV1, where the band would pass under the cushion, puncturing the over ear sealing.

Most gaming headsets won't be bigger than those, and most otheres I have tried as well like the Kingston hyperX's work just fine.

Any on-ear headset as well would work with no issue.

Thanks for the advise. Ya know, I started this thread focusing on Wireless, just seemed less agitating then wired. The more I read, the more Im likely to fall inline with wired instead. Thanks again.

I just looked at that g533, that is a very nice headset, so it does not conflict at all with the rift band you say?

As with all things it could vary between each person, but for me the top section of the cup goes over my ears and under the halo band without much if any interference.

That, is very interesting! how much time have you used these roughly, and once the headset is in place on your head, can you flip them off your ear? Also, as i viewed the pictures. I dont see any means to adjust the volume or mute? Just curious if they have such ability? Thanks

I've had about 3 hours so far. I find them comfortable and the sound quality is very detailed with an excellent bass. No they don't flip away. No, there is no volume or mute facility.

Forgot to add, that wireless and especially bluetooth are problematic as those adds lag, and the delay between audio and the visual part can be very annoying and confusing even when it doesn't get noticed quickly in testing.

There is more about that topic in the Oculus 6 event by John Carmack.
