Mr. Big.Biggs Posted December 21, 2019 Posted December 21, 2019 Is there a big enough spread between the stable version and the open beta versions to warrant a casual user that uses VR to get involved? Obviously those in the VR side of things are constantly trying to squeeze performance out of their headsets. Any notable improvements or attempts at improvement between current stable and OB? Thanks again to entire community for your assistance!!! I9 (5Ghz turbo)2080ti 64Gb 3200 ram. 3 drives. A sata 2tb storage and 2 M.2 drives. 1 is 1tb, 1 is 500gb. fitness88 Posted December 21, 2019 Posted December 21, 2019 I find sometimes from one update to another you can see a marked difference in VR performance, sometimes for the better and sometimes for the worse. For that reason some may choose to switch back and forth from beta.
dburne Posted December 22, 2019 Posted December 22, 2019 I just stay with the Open Beta all the way now, have not had the Stable version installed for some time now. I used to have both installed and found I was never using Stable version anyway. I do not do multiplayer though, only single player. Mr. Big.Biggs Posted December 22, 2019 Author Posted December 22, 2019 Thanks for replying! At least for now things seem to be working great so not going to mess w it. Lange_666 Posted December 22, 2019 Posted December 22, 2019 You don't need to. Just make a copy of DCS (call it open beta or so), use Skatezilla's updater utility, find the 2 DCS installs and update one to beta and off you go, having stable and beta side by side. It's that easy. Win11 Pro 64-bit, Ryzen 5800X3D, Corsair H115i, Gigabyte X570S UD, EVGA 3080Ti XC3 Ultra 12GB, 64 GB DDR4 G.Skill 3600. Bob_Bushman Posted December 23, 2019 Posted December 23, 2019 MP is generally more demanding, but I don't think there is that much perf difference between the two versions unless something specific entered beta. As for me I play beta only, simply because 96% of all MP servers and groups run the OB and not stable. i7 8700k @ 4.7, 32GB 2900Mhz, 1080ti, CV1 Virpil MT-50\Delta, MFG Crosswind, Warthog Throttle, Virptil Mongoost-50 throttle.
