Have the mirrors been mentioned yet?

They are terrible. Like...really bad.

Don;t get me wrong the systems are tremendous and i am seriously, seriously loving this thing but them mirrors need looked at and quick. Is this part of the WIP cockpit?

Cheers

They seem to have a very narrow field of view, and don't seem to be aligned correctly.

The JF-17 is not better than the F-16; it's different. It's how you fly that counts.

Yes. FOV is very narrow, everything is zoomed way in. Also at night, the reflected lights look like my GPU is having a meltdown. And when i hit M key the mirrors fold back and freeze the previous image instead of turning off?

Having gone back to the FC3 aircraft, the mirrors in the Jeff resemble the quality of the mirrors in those modules. Just expecting better between EA and release. Not sure if new API etc. will have an impact on reflection rendering.sky box etc. so prob not worth rushing into fixing just yet anyway lol

Best mirrors are in L-39 and Mi-8, those has very nice wide angle mirrors that you can actually use in BFM with others, as you can see what is happening behind you. Even the Su-25A had a very nice mirrors, but now it is as well very zoomed in and there is some odd obstacle block just front of the top mirror.

Rest of the mirrors has gone from bad to terrible etc. All the time just changing all the time.

I noticed the reflections are really "jaggy" in those mirrors, moreso than other modules (F18). Not a huge deal, but its noticable.

Old-N-busted: i7 4720HQ ~3.5GHZ, +32GB DDR3 + Nvidia GTX980m (4GB VRAM) :joystick: TM Warthog. TrackIR, Rift CV1 (yes really).

I always thought it was because of the displays. L-39 and Mi-8 can pack all their display pixels into little mirrors, but JF-17 has more MFD space then all other planes

What would you do? You can see in the setting for cockpit display it’s limit is 1024 probably 1024x1024 pixels. It’s not like they maliciously cut mirror resolution, I’m not sure there is another way to implement such large MFDs. You can kind of also see the limit in planes with one or multiple mirrors. It is as if a display that stretches across all mirrors has to be rendered.

I’m not a software person but I’m sure it would take some level of re writing the cockpit graphics aspect of DCS itself to change it to have high resolution mirrrors and MFD, and then you will have people saying their performance has tanked but aren’t willing to fly without mirrors. Unless something drastic changes in the core game very soon I don’t see it changing until Vulkan. One reason to look forward to that

Perfectly understandable but in which case i refer to my comment on post #4 regarding the mirrors freezing the image when switched off.

They need to fix this small aspect of it and then i am happy, personally not bothered about mirrors provided they at least a) fold away (yes) and b)turn black when switched off (no) :)
