REDEYE_CVW-66 Posted December 26, 2019 Posted December 26, 2019 I am setting up a scenario on the PG map, with Iranian aircraft patrolling the Iranian mainland in CAPS. However, as soon as BLUE aircraft start spawning, the IAF planes race across the Gulf to shoot them down. What do I need to have set to get them to defend themselves/the area they fly over rather than chasing the first enemy contact they get?
VpR81 Posted December 26, 2019 Posted December 26, 2019 Change the waypoint task "CAP" under advanced waypiont actions to "Attack targets". Then you can set wich type of targets (helos, bombers, fighters, cruise missiles, etc) shall be attacked by the group and you can set the attack range in NM. Under stop conditions you can set the time or the waypoint (or LUA file, flag etc) the rule should stop. If you want to have even more specific behavior, you could add " Set Option" -> "ROE" under advanced waypoint actions and set the rules of engagement for each of your waypoints. feefifofum Posted December 26, 2019 Posted December 26, 2019 SEARCH THEN ENGAGE IN ZONE can also be used to restrict their activities to a certain area. Make sure you delete the default "CAP" advanced waypoint action. THE GEORGIAN WAR - OFFICIAL F-15C DLC

VpR81 Posted December 26, 2019 Posted December 26, 2019 SEARCH THEN ENGAGE IN ZONE can also be used to restrict their activities to a certain area. Problem with that task is, that it must be either a very big zone, or set specificly for each separate waypoint. I use "Search then engage in zone" mostly for BARCAP missions, where the flight is patroling for a certain time between 2 or 3 waypoints, but not for a CAP flight following multiple waypoints along a (long) route. Knock-Knock Posted December 26, 2019 Posted December 26, 2019 I prefer using 'Search then Engage' and specify a range. Then they will attack inside that range only, at any given point or time of their flight plan, if they detect the bandit. And as mentioned, delete CAP. They will be as aggressive as they are in 'CAP', but they wont be running off across the map. - Jack of many DCS modules, master of none. - Personal wishlist: F-15A, F-4S Phantom II, JAS 39A Gripen, SAAB 35 Draken, F-104 Starfighter, Panavia Tornado IDS. | Windows 11 | i5-12400 | 64Gb DDR4 | RTX 3080 | 2x M.2 | 27" 1440p | Rift CV1 | Thrustmaster Warthog HOTAS | MFG Crosswind pedals |
Habu_69 Posted December 26, 2019 Posted December 26, 2019 (edited) I have had best success with advanced waypoint actions that 1. Tasks the CAP group to orbit 2. Option NO REACTION TO THREAT 3. Option WEAPON HOLD When a bandit penetrates a zone, a flag ends the 3 actions. Edited December 26, 2019 by Habu_69
