DDSSTT Posted January 5, 2020 Posted January 5, 2020 Does anyone know of stiffer springs or a mod to increase the tension? I am using the Damper Mod but the standard springs just aren't strong enough. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] http://www.csg-2.net/
FoxTwo Posted January 5, 2020 Posted January 5, 2020 Can't say for sure but your best bet is to take a spring off and head to the hardware store and look at their extension springs to try to find something that will work.
Alex Voicu Posted January 5, 2020 Posted January 5, 2020 The spring mechanism on the TPR is really bad, even at max setting the spring tension is very weak near the neutral position. It is very easy to have unwanted rudder input because you can't feel any resistance from the pedals around neutral. I simply replaced the springs with rubber bands which work 1000 times better. You can make the pedals as stiff as you need by adding more rubber bands. They wear out in time so i have to replace them once a month, but it's a 1 minute operation. 1

I am going to give that a shot! Thanks man! [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] http://www.csg-2.net/

Alex Voicu Posted January 6, 2020 Posted January 6, 2020 I'm glad it helps. My rubber bands are roughly circular with a diameter of approx. 85-90mm, but i twist them to an 8 shape and fold them before installing them on the pedals, so they are actually 2 times smaller but the spring force is higher.
FoxTwo Posted January 8, 2020 Posted January 8, 2020 I'm going to try swapping in some 1-1/2" extension springs from the hardware store. Should work and keep some additional tension on them at the center point. https://www.primeline.net/sp-9602-ext-spring-716x-1-12x-047-steel-single-loop-closed This should have a bit more force but may not have enough deflection, but for $4 I'm willing to give it a shot. This one is basically the same as the stock spring. https://www.primeline.net/sp-9605-
BlacleyCole Posted January 13, 2020 Posted January 13, 2020 Tm finally sent me an email stating the size of the screw after I got the info here ordered them from amazon and had them in hand for almost a week. Orr89 Posted January 14, 2020 Posted January 14, 2020 Are these worth the money, I mean I own a set of MFG Crosswinds, but never really been a fan of my foot being off the floor. So i'm tempted with the TPR setup. I don't really fly Helios that much so not sure if its worth the expense.
VpR81 Posted January 14, 2020 Posted January 14, 2020 Well, that highly depends on your overall setup...i have the TPR system for like a year now and i´m absolutely happy with it. Quality, precision and materials are what you would expect for that price. BUT, they are definately not suited for "under a desk" use. If your seat/chair position is too high in relation to the pedals, operating them (especially toe brakes) is a pain. I used them for a couple of months under my desk before i got my simrig and it was not fun. On my rig now, the pedals are just a little bit lower than my knees (maybe 10cm in difference) and it´s just perfect. Also keep in mind that the system is relatively heavy, but will still slide over the bottom. It´s better to mount them. And as the OP stated, the springs are a bit too soft. DDSSTT Posted January 14, 2020 Author Posted January 14, 2020 Just wanted to give an update, I went with the rubber bands and its night and day different. The pedals now have enough force where it feels like I am pressing in a clutch of a car; and with the damper its really a smooth feel. There is no "bounce-back" on return to center even when completely letting off when full deflection. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] http://www.csg-2.net/

If you're looking for a more permanent solution I'd recommend the springs I linked earlier. https://www.primeline.net/sp-9602-ext-spring-716x-1-12x-047-steel-single-loop-closed I just got mine today and the centering force is significantly better. No loss of travel, but it takes a small amount of additional effort to move the pedals.

This is a little late, but thanks for this tip; you wouldn't happen to know what rubber size fits best, would you? Thanks in advance!
