On an FA-18, what are ppl using the friction dial on the front TM Warthog throttle for? Can it be mapped? Was considering mapping NVG gain to it. I’m not talking about the dial on the side, which works well fro mapping zoom view.

I believe that's a physical button that physically adjusts the amount of friction on the throttle levers. I don't think it is connected as a switch/button at all.

I use it for zoom

The only way to make sense out of change is to plunge into it, move with it, and join the dance.

It's a mechanical adjustment for...friction...and I keep it dialed all the way down so there's little effort required to move the throttles. There's no electrical connection.

Let's clear things up here...

The light grey lever (right side of throttle) can be mapped as an axis

The black wheel (where it actually says "friction") can not be mapped

Yup, the black wheel has no electronics.

I'm playing with how to map some of the switches on the TM Warthog Throttle base for the Hornet. I've decided to map the Flashlight and NGVs to the two switches near the front of the black box. The NVG Gain is mapped to my up/down arrows, since I don't use the keyboard to fly.

At the back of the black box I have Landing Gear, Hook Up/Down, and Active Pause mapped.
