BlacleyCole Posted February 1, 2020 Posted February 1, 2020 I would like for the headset to only carry radio sounds, I’d like something for in cockpit sounds and something for out of cockpit sounds I have a jet seat for vibration. How would you do this multiple sound cards or can it be done with one system and would you 7.1 or 5.1. P,us would having a Sony sound bar do any good. BlackeyCole 20years usaf XP-11. VpR81 Posted February 1, 2020 Posted February 1, 2020 (edited) I have my TV as standard screen connected to my PC. My 5.1 sound system is plugged in my PC soundcard and my headset plugged in my TV. For the headphone (and VoIP) channel i have the TV selected as output device and for the rest have the PC soundcard selected as output device. Works great, warning sounds and radio calls on my headset, engine and other envroinment sounds on my 5.1 sound system. edit: And got the TV selected as output device for external VoIP software as well, to keep the immersion for MP Edited February 1, 2020 by VpR81 Phanteks EvolvX / Win 11 / i9 12900K / MSI Z690 Carbon / MSI Suprim RTX 3090 / 64GB G.Skill Trident Z DDR5-6000 / 1TB PCIe 4.0 NVMe SSD / 2TB PCIe 3.0 NVMe SSD / 2TB SATA SSD / 1TB SATA SSD / Alphacool Eisbaer Aurora Pro 360 / beQuiet StraightPower 1200W RSEAT S1 / VPC T50 CM2 + 300mm extension + Realsimulator F18 CGRH / VPC WarBRD + TM Warthog grip / WinWing F/A-18 Super Taurus + F-15EX / 4x TM Cougar MFD / Slaw Device RX Viper V3 / HP Reverb G2

MegOhm_SD Posted February 5, 2020 Posted February 5, 2020 (edited) Don’t know what “Best” means in OPs question... but when not using my headset, Im using my Surround Sound thats hooked up to my 65” Samsung 4K, which is my “Monitor”. Which is pretty awesome when I turn it up and Rock the Room. The flyby in the F18 with watermanpcs sound mod is amazing. ignition22 Posted February 14, 2020 Posted February 14, 2020 (edited) I am pretty particular about my audio setups. I use voice meter banana and effectively 3 sound cards. With voice meter you can take one input and split it into 3 different outputs each with different eqs and crossovers applied etc. One channel play all frequencies to my Oculus Rift S which essentially acts as a sound card. This makes sure I get directional queues and so I can tell what is coming from where. In DCS I also set my Rift S as the only sound output for headset sounds (comms etc). One channel play all frequencies but in mono to a 5.1 home theatre system in my sim room via my motherboard soundcard. I wired up the back speakers to play the same sound as the front even though it is not getting a 5 channel input and excluded the front center speaker. This gives depth to the sound I am getting also from my Rift so it doesn't sound like all the sound is being sourced right by ears, it sounds like its coming from out in the environment. One channel is low passed to play only low frequencies and runs to Dayton bass shakers connected to my rig which uses a usb sound card. When you first compare between having setup like this and just having it all in Rift S headband its like night and day, its just far far more immersive. Probably after playing for 30mins you kinda don't even really notice anymore it all just blends into the experience Edited February 14, 2020 by ignition22

Every time I see a movie with sound (like from PRC77 radio) I get nostalgic. The memories come flooding back triggered by the sound effects. If I ever get a room dedicated, I'll have to try out what you're doing.
