Nealius Posted February 16, 2020 Posted February 16, 2020 I analyzed my DCS drive to find out what's hogging all my disk space since my 250GB drive, which has DCS and only DCS on it, is quickly filling up with each update. The terrains are obviously the biggest offenders, but something doesn't make much sense: Nevada - 33.9GB Caucasus - 14.5GB Persian Gulf - 8.9GB Normandy - 1.6GB Persian Gulf covers much more area than NTTR, yet NTTR is 3.8x in file size? I don't get it, especially considering the low-quality textures and buildings, and flat terrain, compared to PG.
Rudel_chw Posted February 16, 2020 Posted February 16, 2020 Your Normandy size seems too small, how did you got the info? This was my dcs before persian gulf .. will get an up to date version tomorrow: For work: iMac mid-2010 of 27" - Core i7 870 - 6 GB DDR3 1333 MHz - ATI HD5670 - SSD 256 GB - HDD 2 TB - macOS High Sierra For Gaming: 34" Monitor - Ryzen 3600 - 32 GB DDR4 2400 - nVidia RTX2080 - SSD 1.25 TB - HDD 10 TB - Win10 Pro - TM HOTAS Cougar Mobile: iPad Pro 12.9" of 256 GB
Art-J Posted February 16, 2020 Posted February 16, 2020 What really doesn't make sense is how WinDirStart reports folder sizes :D. Normandy has always been about 15-16 GB big. I don't own Gulf map, but I recall reading at a time of its release that it was about 25 GB back then. Nevada looks about right. i7 9700K @ stock speed, single GTX1070, 32 gigs of RAM, TH Warthog, MFG Crosswind, Win10.
Rudel_chw Posted February 16, 2020 Posted February 16, 2020 Here I've an updated view of my DCS install, with all Maps, using up 194 GB: This doesn't include the Saved Games folder space, as that is on another drive.
