Roll back to 2.5.5 help please

Hi guys,

 

I've updated to 2.5.6 but in light of the recent performance drops I'd like to revert back to the previous. I've got 100% confidence in ED so I'm sure they'll sort it but in the meantime the previous one is spot on.

 

Question is how to revert back? I've seen that there's some info out there but it looks very complicated and I don't want to mess things up completely!

You can use Skatezilla's Tool (under "advanced update options", choose in the middle section, branch (Open Beta) & enter last version (2.5.5.41962)):

Before you can use it, you have to add the game folder and the DCS.openbeta-Saved-games folder under "Application settings".

Done that mate and entered the previous beta in the box but I can't find the update button like it suggests in the instructions?

Not to difficult to do. Make sure to use the 2.5.5.41962 beta version. That was the most recent.

 

Once you are in the correct folder, cut and paste this:

 

DCS_updater.exe update 2.5.5.41962@openbeta

So simplu updating through the GUI utility doesn't work? I have to do the whole command prompt method like it does in the link you sent?

I don’t use the GUI interface. I find it’s just as easy through the command prompt.

 

You need to be in the correct folder before running the command line. Depending on where you have DCS installed, you should end up here; EAGLE DYNAMICS\DCS WORLD\BIN\

 

Once there, run the command line; “DCS_updater.exe update 2.5.5.41962@openbeta” (minus the quotes)

So my DCS main folder is on a separate SSD which is the D:\

There's nothing else on this drive apart from DCS but I'm having trouble getting my command prompts to work. D:\DCS World OpenBeta\bin

Using Windows 10 Power Shell the command is

 

• “.\DCS_updater.exe update 2.5.5.41962@openbeta”

 

 

The .\ prefix tells Power Shell to look in the current folder.

I too have noticed some bugs in 2.5.6 as well as massive FPS drops. Some of my more populated ME missions have dropped as low as 8 to 12 frames when they previously were at 35 to 50.

I anticipated this. so instead of updating, I installed 2.5.6. separately. I have 2 launchers on my desktop so all I have to do to revert to 2.5.5.41962 is open it. If you have room on your drive, maybe you should consider doing this in the future.

Yup. Rolling back to 2.5.5. It was a mistake to update it.
