Anyone advise? I'm on 2.5.6 at the moment. What's the best way to download the stable version as well and install it separately? Do I need to download it ALL, from scratch? It won't share anything with the open beta? The open beta is installed in a DCS World folder on the E drive, an SSD. Can I just install the stable version right next to it (not in the same folder, obviously). Many thanks.

You can put it anywhere you like mate, not an issue. Best to download a fresh copy from the ED site. I have my 2.5.6 Open Beta on my SSD main drive and a 2.5.5 Stable on my spare drive, no worries. I did have them side by side on my SSD originally, I moved one to free up space on the drive.

Well, it didn't turn out so easy. The install didn't give me any options as to the saved games folder, and hence it defaults, it seems, to share the User/Saved Games/DCS folder with the OB install. This means it recognizes me, nice, means all my keymaps are there, nice, but on the other hand I wanted to have an install completely free of the 2.5.6 OB install. What if some of the files for the OB version saved in that saved games location have been modified by the stable version install? That will mess up both installs, maybe? Anyone know how I get a completely separate install going, so that there are two folders in the Saved Games location, one for OB, one for stable? Thanks.

Strange - In your Saved Games folder you should have 2 options, DCS OpenBeta and DCS, which is the Alpha version. Thats how its always created it in my game. The DCS Alpha folder isnt created until you actually run that version ? You have run it ?

Thats what I just did a few days ago when I updated my Alpha from 2.5.2 to 2.5.5.

You can create a single Liveries folder in the Saved Games setup which both version will see, but that's another modification you need to make in each Beta/Alpha folder.

Shortly after installing 2.5.6, my alpha 2.5.5 version got corrupted. It had been buggy for a few weeks, anyway, I simply deleted 2.5.5 and downloaded it fresh. Now I didn't have any trouble assigning it to my A: drive where I keep all my games. You must have missed the window asking you where to install it. Anyway, as you can see, both versions sit nicely side by side on my A:drive. Desktop shortcuts are next to one another including update buttons for each version.
