Ironhand Posted March 14, 2020 Posted March 14, 2020 I played around with ME, Ironhand's mission file and refuel/rearm in 2.5.6. Generally I get what Ironhand get. The tricky part is refuel/rearm. It has its quirks. It doesn't work like in ME. It assumes external tanks fuel as total fuel in percentage. You can't really get to the point of having both fuel tanks and 0% fuel total. Sounds logical. Even if you move the slider to 0% and keep the tank you will still end up with fuel like 16%. If you get rid of the tanks and go for 0% you end up with 2% and have to ask again to clean it to 0%. There's also this transfer from externals to feed tanks when you turn on the power. If you ask for more tanks during this process you will get new full tanks plus what was already transfered. Lots of error points to make so yeah, not good method for counting gas. Was able to spend some time with this today. The MP Refueling Screen works exactly like the ME Fueling Screen as long as you include 100% internal fuel. After that, you can add or subtract tanks however you want and all the numbers continue to line up. The problems start, when you add tanks without 100% internal fuel. Add the first tank and you get an additional 300+ kg of fuel you hadn't asked for. Plus, the 620 kg in the tank is drawn into the internal tanks. (If you jettison that tank, there is no drop in available fuel quantity.) Adding and subtracting tanks never works out because some of the tank fuel fills the internal tanks. Removing the tank doesn't remove the fuel that's been moved. And, it doesn't matter whuch version of the sim you use. mastershotgun Posted March 14, 2020 Author Posted March 14, 2020 Ironhand > Oki I did some more testing to confirm and, that's it! You actually solve it! All the weird things I saw and were confusing my calculations happened only when I was adding tanks with 0% internal fuel. Once I had 100% fuel everything works as expected...
draconus Posted March 15, 2020 Posted March 15, 2020 Nice, but why we get those 300kg of additional fuel and why there is difference in the cockpit? Worth of a bug report? Win10 i7-10700KF 32GB RTX4070S Quest 3 T16000M VPC CDT-VMAX TFRP FC3 F-14A/B F-15E CA SC NTTR PG Syria
Ironhand Posted March 15, 2020 Posted March 15, 2020 (edited) Probably worth a report, though it's not a serious issue. You normally wouldn't add wing tanks without a full internal fuel load. There'd be no reason to. Mastershotgun only noticed the issue because he was doing something :) "abnormal". EDIT: 0% Internal Fuel: There are actually several things that could be looked into, including the values for 2 outer vs two inner tanks. Ironhand Posted March 19, 2020 Posted March 19, 2020 Just reported the "bug" here: Su-25T MP External Tank Fuel Quantity Bug. I ran a test adding and removing the same tank with interesting results.
