Any way to turn off the "too close" X on the HUD, when you're in dogfight?

When I'm in a dogfight, the big X on the HUD, usually gets in my way of aiming the reticle on the target.

Is there any way to turn it off, like a circuit breaker? I guess not, but just wanted to check.

Have a nice day all.

Nope, I don't think there is. It's there for a reason.

That’s impressive that you can stay that close for that long! I would be a little uneasy being that close because 1) you have less time to react to his movements and 2) if you kill him being so close your plane may be damaged by pieces of his plane hitting you. I think the collision warning “x” displays at 500 ft. Can anyone confirm?

That's the very reason why the X is there.

I’ve definitely had plane parts rain on my canopy after not heeding the break symbol. Got away with it that time but it could’ve easily taken out both engines.

The only way I can think of is to not lock the bandit. That way the system doesn't know you're too close and you shouldn't need much cues for aiming this close.
