raus Posted March 12, 2020 Posted March 12, 2020 Just as the title says, the current fonts are hard to read without really leaning in/zooming, specially on VR. Not sure if this is the way it is in the real jet. Nevertheless, I (and I hope more ppl) would appreciate an option to have a VR-optimized font: maybe thinner, maybe one or two points bigger, so that we can properly read information like contacts altitude on the FCR page without needing to magnify it :) Of course, this could be offered as an option either in the VR menu, or in the special settings for the module, so there is a choice. RuskyV Posted March 14, 2020 Posted March 14, 2020 I agree I think there could be some optimisation for reading the displays. One thing that doesn’t help is the baked in reflections that are pretty awful to be fair. I would rather see them gone completely.
raus Posted March 15, 2020 Author Posted March 15, 2020 What VR setup do you have and settings? I do not have that issue with my setup.. I am using an Oculus Rift S and a RTX2060. I‘ve tried experimenting with DCS PD settings and Oculus Tray Tool Super Sampling. I had some improvement, but I lack sharpness on the MFDs, no matter what I do. Everything else seems quite ok, but there‘s still this blutriness to text that spoils the fun :( GV5Js DATACARD GENERATOR

Delareon Posted March 17, 2020 Posted March 17, 2020 The Rift S has a very tight sweet spot, which adds to that situation. Sometimes i meet the spot very well and dont have problems, sometimes not. But to be honest: in Elite Dangerous i had never problems of unclear fonts like in DCS so there are ways to improve it. Its not always a matter of the user changing his behavior, thats a topic the software should change to follow users needs.

I think sometimes a developer just needs to swallow their pride and admit that something wasn't quite the great idea/addition to the product they initially thought it was, and remove it. Reflections seem to be the flavour of the month at ED lately, case in point the side windows in the new Ka-50 cockpit - yikes. Not saying you don't get reflections in an aircraft cockpit, but generally a: They are not as noticeable and b: they move with your head position and c: window reflections are not 'in focus and noticed' because your eyes are focused on the outside terrain etc. - you are not sitting their cross-eyed focusing on the window pane! AMEN!! I hate the over done fake reflections, if I knew more about it I would mod them out in a heartbeat. _mu110_ Posted March 17, 2020 Posted March 17, 2020 AMEN!! I hate the over done fake reflections, if I knew more about it I would mod them out in a heartbeat. At least for the Hornet I know there are some shader mods that are intended to optimize performance for VR that get rid of these among other things, not sure if this could be easily transferred to the Viper though. Check out my skins and mods on the User Files.
