Burt Posted March 14, 2020 Posted March 14, 2020 But I got my DCS machine, gaming keyboard, Warthog Hotas, and 1TB ssd coming. But now being so new to this I wasn't thinking about the monitor. I thought that I will just use my existing monitor I have now "not a gaming" monitor but a Dell desktop monitor HDMI connected @ 60Hz. My new machine is a i7-9700K with a 2080 super and 32 gb memory cards. Will this monitor be ok to just start and get things downloaded and running. Can anybody give my any advice on maybe a $200ish monitor? Rudel_chw Posted March 14, 2020 Posted March 14, 2020 Can anybody give my any advice on maybe a $200ish monitor? Honestly, I would keep your current monitor and save the $200 towards purchasing a good VR Headset .. for gaming, Monitors are quickly becoming the past and VR is the future. Burt Posted March 14, 2020 Author Posted March 14, 2020 Thx tintifaxl ! Rudel_chw I know and understand the VR is awesome but honestly to this day right now I really don't like how big them things are and I don't think I want that thing on my head for hours on in learning. Maybe in a few years when they are able to downsize the bulkiness of the device I may do it then. Just a good old fashion gaming monitor will do for me. Thx for your advice tho. Rudel_chw Posted March 14, 2020 Posted March 14, 2020 ... I really don't like how big them things are and I don't think I want that thing on my head for hours on in learning. Yes, for sure one of the issues of VR is their bulkiness .. my Oculus CV1 took me quite a while to get used to it. But be sure to at least get some form of headtracking device, like TrackIR or a clone, as it is as essential as a good HOTAS. Just think that one day a VR unit will be like what Levar Burton use to use on Star Trek Next Generation. Haha one day! Yes your right I’ve been doing some research and it looks like I’ll be in the ball park of around 500ish. I’m kinda learning on what the g-sync stuff means. But yeah I just want to get a good one and not have to upgrade every year... so many options out there it’s just mind boggling for sure. Skeinon Posted March 15, 2020 Posted March 15, 2020 Sadly i've tryed the VR so, i cannot go back... however, if you are still "virgin", i advise you to continue play on a good big 4k monitor (possibly curved and with a good response time) cause DCS, when run fast in hig resolution, at full detail and with all eyecandy is absolutely a stunning experience!

It truly is a breath taking sim and I can’t wait to get started. Well I decided and purchased a 240hz gaming monitor so I’m all set now and waiting for it all to be delivered. I’m up to 4K now haha the 4K monitor can wait. I haven’t even bought a mod yet either.
