AstroEma Posted March 24, 2020 Posted March 24, 2020 Hi all, I have finally built a new pc and had DCS installed on an external 250Gb SSD. I’d like to update DCS but I only have 61Gb free and the update requires 69Gb. Is there anything I can delete from the DCS installation directory to free up some space? Im running out of ideas. The DCS directory - not updated - right now is 118Gb! Appreciate your help! E. Prior update you must delete a few modules from coremods folder .i.e f 14 or /and mig 21( both modules are very big ).with that you have enough space to upgrade
Fish Posted March 24, 2020 Posted March 24, 2020 get your self a little app called Treesize Free, and you can see down to the folder level what is using your space. Have you considered opening the enclosue of your external ssd, and connecting it as an internal second ssd drive. It should have a normal SATA connector inside. Badger1815 Posted March 24, 2020 Posted March 24, 2020 Hi AstroEma, I'm using DCS updater utility & this allow you set to the download location to another disk, in my case a 1Tb HDD. Bit slower, but a lot cheaper in disk space. Keeps my SSD from filling up. good luck

Hi, My DCS install is also taking 133 GB in my 256 GB SSD drive. :( I noticed that my DCS install folder has a "_downloads" folder inside, which contains up to 9 GB of "torrents" folders, that include World.common, language.common, etc, folders. :( Can I delete safely these torrent files to save space in order to download more aircraft, etc ? :) Thanks for your help, Toan

toan Posted April 19, 2020 Posted April 19, 2020 Yes you can. Thanks a lot for your blazingly quick answer ! :) I appreciate your help. :) Toan
Art-J Posted April 19, 2020 Posted April 19, 2020 Keep in mind updater needs some extra space for extracting and moving around files whenever you install and update or new module, so these 9 GB you'll free might still not be enough. i7 9700K @ stock speed, single GTX1070, 32 gigs of RAM, TH Warthog, MFG Crosswind, Win10.

Ok, I get your point, thanks. I have 41 GB of free space left right now, plus the 9 GB of torrent files that I will delete. So, I hope this will be enough for the Super Carrier module... :smilewink: Thanks, Toan
