ok this is weird, now i'm having the opposite problem i had before. i'm panning the TPOD around and designating target points, however when i press undesignate, nothing happens. previously this would boresite/cage the TPOD.

also when i press WPDSG on the HSI, the TPOD does not pan to the selected waypoint. maybe it's just late and i'm doing something wrong but usually this is a simple task. i've attached a screenshot of the situation where i'm pressing undesignate and nothing happens...

EDIT: i turned the FlIR off an on again, and was able to do a waypoint designate tpod slew 1 time sucessfully. but after i launched my bomb it stopped working again, aka could no longer cage or designate

I'm not sure about how it's supposed to function, but this is how it used to work for me...

Undesignate removes the designated target, but leaves the pod in place. Cage/Uncage boresights the pod.

I faced the same issue with new functionality to slave a point from TGP. As I discovered, cage/uncage has nothing to do with slave/unslave to WPT. Here is how slave to WPT with TGP is working:

You need to press WPDSG to slave a waypoint, for example WPT1.

When you want to slave an another waypoint (WPT2), you need to press NWS ( nose wheel steering button). And after that, press WPDSG again. Now it will slave to WPT 2. That's it. You dont need to cage/uncage. Good luck.

And one more very important thing: Your should make your waypoints altitude to 0 (zero), or your TGP will be slaving a point somewhere in the air.

That's the way it worked previously and worked well IMHO, now undesignate seems to boresight the optics :( ,also the same if you launch a Gbu38 in TOO mode, as soon as you pickle the bloody optics boresight again.......grrrrrr

On the good side the new way to use the JDAM's in TOO mode works much better....so not all is negative ? rippled 4 off the rails in quick succession against 4 different targets piece of cake, one precaution I made before anything else was to step to each station and pre select TOO mode, without designating anything, then when I dropped the first I was immediately able to move the pod, lock, drop, move pod, lock drop, move lock drop.......lovely stuff :)

So there was no need to un-designate the pod from the previous tgt before designating another?

I just did more testing with JSOW.

You can move, designate, move, designate, move, designate then when in range, release, release, release.

All 3 on target.

You don't want to un-designate between the 3 tgts. because then must move back from boresight.

yup, works a treat now doesn't it......I rippled 4 from the racks on 4 different targets in relative close proximity (SAM Site) super simple, and like you would expect it tbh......if it is realistic I don't know, I seem to recall seeing a discussion on this in the past, I like the way it works currently tho.

A little help with the AGM 65F & TGP please

Designate target with TDC on TGP screen then switch to Maverick screen and uncage it but cannot slew it at all so I have so far tried:

1) If I un designate the target the TGP returns to aircraft nose centre about -10 loosing visual on the target area but I can then slew the missile but want the TGP to stay on target.

2) I have realistic TDC slew off in options as I have a warthog throttle so no press and hold required to slew.

3) Diamond is on the correct screen for the sensor I’m working with.

So actual question is the TGP suppose to return to aircraft nose looking slightly down when you undesignate a target?

I feel something is wrong here?

Open beta latest build.

I use TGP for JSOW, un-designate will go back to centerline -9, un-cage will go back to -5.

I have found there is no need to un-designate before weapon release...at least with the JSOW. This allows you to stay on tgt and re-designate another tgt in the area or just to monitor the impact damage.

Have you tried Mavericks though? Can you slew them and fire multiple ones if designated with a TGP?

I worked with Mavs awhile ago...I'd have to brush up on it. There is great info on this question in this forum.

i'll check that out here and post back........I haven't tried Mav's yet either......just JDAMS so far.

edit my OP #7

I must add to clarify my OP, you need to un-designate only once you are at the last station before release.

I don't think there is a way not to un-designate and release without overwriting the first station. As mentioned in previous posts, it would be nice to keep the TPOD in the tgt area for damage assessment.

With air start you wont see a timer

Just hit the MAV button twice in the DDI make the DDI SOI and un-cage the maverick

Hope that helps

kind regards

Thanks, big help but……………

Do not Designate the WAYPOINT on the target on the HSI, the slew button will not function!

I DISCOVERED THAT ACCIDENTLY!

Hope this helps,

A diamond on the heading tape means you have designated the waypoint as the target; you cannot undesignate with a button.

You must use waypoint: up/dn to clear WP Designate.
