tn_prvteye Posted March 30, 2020 Posted March 30, 2020 There was a python script that Johnny_Rico put out that grabbed a METAR and injected it into an existing mission...as well as randomly changing the time if you wanted. I would run the BAT file...the script grabbed the METAR data and re-saved the mission. I know that there are other ways to inject weather, as well...but this is the one I'm familiar with. What I'm hoping is that there is a way to do this without the METAR part. Basically it would randomly choose Overcast level (0-9), Cloud height, wind speed and direction...and well as the mission time. Would this be possible? I don't really need real-time weather...but just random to spice up my SP missions. Like most of us I've done a wee bit of LUA, but not enough to do anything original...just modifying other's stuff. I looked at python and realized I was out of my depth.
kraszus Posted May 5, 2020 Posted May 5, 2020 I'd be interested in this also. Just a simple LUA script to randomize time / weather / season. Had a look at MOOSE but dont see anything that would do this.
Twwhitey Posted May 30, 2020 Posted May 30, 2020 Just adding my name to the interested list for something like this. This doesn’t seem like an outrageous ask and would spice up some of the persistent dynamic SP missions I spend most of my time in. Would be great to load up the usual mission and have it’s time & weather conditions randomly changed (the METAR stuff would be absolute gravy on top!) Anyone have anything close? i9-9900K @ 5.0GHz, ASUS ROG Z390 MAXIMUS XI HERO, ASUS GeForce RTX 2080Ti 11GB, 32GB DDR4 @ 3866MHZ, 1TB Intel 660P M.2 NVMe SSD, 1TB WD Black SN750 NVMe SSD, Oculus Rift S
Cake Posted May 30, 2020 Posted May 30, 2020 I like the idea of real world weather. Of course it should be optional, but we want realism, right? 6700K@4.6 48Gb - 1080Ti Hybrid - Warthog - RIFT
HC_Official Posted May 30, 2020 Posted May 30, 2020 You cannot to this internally to the mission, due to the awesome way DCS is coded You can do it outside DCS tho No more pre-orders Click here for tutorials for using Virpil Hardware and Software Click here for Virpil Flight equipment dimensions and pictures. .
