For some reason DCS doesn't like my overclock, +130 on the core and +300 on the memory. Every other VR game I have, Il2, ACC. PC2, Elite Dangerous, Automobilista 2, all of these play nice with the overclock, but DCS world crashes/freezes within a minute.

Just had a google and found this

Anyone had success with an overclocked 2080 ?

No mate, all the videos I have watched mention that the voltage slider doesn't do much on the 2080, so just to leave it alone.

Just to mention, I have overclocked all my previous GFX cards but said to myself I wouldn't clock the 2080 as it is quick enough for what I need, but with the state of DCS world in VR at the moment, I am trying anything so I can start flying again.

are you sure that it is due to the GPU

First of all, you should reduce the clock a little. Does it run without freeze if "only" +100MHz is set

GPU voltage/frequency and memory voltage/frequency is somewhwat finicky with DCS. I had to downclock my VRAM to not get green screens after an hour or so. DCS goes heavy on the video memory.

Yes Derneuemann, I have tried with a +100 OC and it still freezes, I have used +160 in other non VR games, so +130 seems to be a nice OC, it makes a difference in ACC to playing high VR settings with 24 cars on track to having to play low VR settings with no Overclock.

Der Hirte, thanks for your input on downclocking to avert the green screens, I will just have to leave my card as stock when playing DCS, hopefully the update today will get me back close to 45 FPS in multi player servers rather than the low 20's I am seeing.

I did OC for my 2060 super and DCS crashed right away but I did manual OC with Kombustor...

Then I used automated method with MSI afterburner, it gained another 15% and added a curve.. its no longer crashing.

Hey egirgin,

I tried the auto OC with afterburner when I first got my card but the overclock it gave me was nothing to write home about. 15% on your card though, that's great.

Did you try with Asus GPU tweak II? I also got good results with it. Will share numbers in the morning. The OC scanner that comes with it, takes some time but results were good, so far no crashing in DCS .. I was also able to increase power to %115 before OC which MSI afterburner doesnt allow to adjust (max 100)..

Consider watercooling the card. This will carry you MUCH further than any attempt on an air cooled card...while keeping stress on components at the achievable minimum
